I've always considered 'I Feel Love' (Moroder/Summer) to be the blueprint for trance music as we know it. Still sounds awesome today and you can clearly hear how trance evolved from it.
That relentless, rolling bassline was inspired by a German oompah band, apparently. ;) |

I heard somwhere that Robert Miles took trance to another level with his song Children. I downloaded the Age og Love song and I heard it in one of the Scooter CD's. hehe. |

its Age of Love - Age of Love.
two totally different tunes. |

Age of Love was definitively one of the first Trance tunes I have ever heard - I remember buying a cd called Radikal Tekno, and that track
was in it. People either loved it or hated it because it was too repetitive - (they should not be listening to electronic music if they think this way)
Trance has evolved but if we define Trance as : upbeat refinned danceable music with a steady 136-145bpm tempo and a solid predominant kick, yes I think there are
variances and a multitude of Trance tracks beginning from the early 90s. How about experimental Trance - I am sure I could hear a Trance dj spin <> into a sick Trance set - the beat should be around 138 bpm I think. |

Like that guy said, it's an ambient track. |

It is ambient because it is music structured in the Eno-esque style, meaning layers of subtly changing loops over a long duration.
And, yes, the fact it is a rhythmless track also has something to do with it.
The reason it was called "pure trance" was because a lot of ambient music could put you into a calming, relaxed trance -hence pure trance.
The KLF were going through their ambient phase at this point as it is. While elements of this mix may be prevalent in trance music, they intended this to be an ambient track. |

Haha! I have that as well. The Age Of Love was quite the odd track on that compilation since there was more old school hardcore and Belgian Beat on it. |

That's what I heard was one of the earliest formings of trance |
