best american style prog is the stuff you hear from the likes of chris micali and steve porter. really funky stuff that is still packed with melodies and driving beats.
markus schulz i really liked about a year ago but his style is getting pretty tiresome. same goes for elusive, likwit and the majority of the oslo nights dudes. just over it, bit too middle of the road and never really going anywhere
i enjoyed mark otten's november oslo nights mix tho, very nice |

progressive is progressive.
When done well, any progressive set is really cool to listen to, melody without cheese, cool groove with the musical journey.
But if you guys are just happy to peg a name on all the crap progressive out there I'd be more than happy to label it as American.

How can you can a whole style of music, there is good and bad in everything so Im going to be a and sit on the fence and say somes good and somes bad

anywho - I got the tilt - 12 rekkid recently and I think it shows a good representation of the difference between this style of prog and the other more communist kind.
A-Side Tilt mix - full on melodic with that bass that seems to be so popular these days
B-Side Pig And Dan mix - While not their greatest work, this is more the traditional prog style
so yeah compare and contrast |

I have to say that i really like "mcprog" but not for what i enjoy in prog but rather what i enjoy in trance.
If i was a prog purist i can see why u wouldn't get into it, but being more a trance fan i like what the prog feel has done for trance, in the same way i like what the tekno feel has given trance in the last couple of years i.e marco v etc.
i dont think it's "trancey prog" tho i think it's "proggy trance" does that make sense? :conf: So would naturally appeal to alot of trance listeners but not most prog listeners. |
