I know what you are saying...

But I could say the same thing about Tiestos music or Ferrys music... or Darren Tates music..

To me thats not "Trancey" as I know it.

People get introduced to Trance at different times, and appreciate it for different reasons... Every producer years ago had their own perception of what Trance was as it was a new genre people were playing with... You had your: Your Psy / Goa Trance... Your Acid Trance... Your Tech Trance... your Progressive Trance and your Uplifting Trance...

So when someone walks into a club hearing Uplifting Trance... and asks what sort of music it is and the guy next to him tells him that its Trance... Thats how he will define it.

Personally I was introduced to Trance that was atmospheric spacey melodic and hypnotic.... That is "Trancey" as I know it

good and bad stuff comes out of every country.

i like to judge each track individually and not discriminate by genere. i feel this enables me to keep my open open to new things as my taste and style matures.

I don't mind having it on in the background and listening to it generally. I could never play it as my style though, it lacks too much energy for me.

Agreed. Lacks the punch to play out but can be great to recover to, sittin on the couch talking with folks, passing a banger round and listen to lush sounds :p .

But I too refuse to discriminate on a genre based generalisation. Some of it really resonates with me, some doesn't - quite the same as Trance, it totally depends on the individual tune.

i disagree.. i reckon if its sped up to a rate of about 134-135bpm, you have a very solid bassline on lots of those tracks, certainly enough to get people stomping on the dancefloor... maybe not kandy kids.. but certainly groovers who appreciate good melodies..
Light The Fuse
if you are in a room that starts at say 128 bpm, and by the end of the nght is going at 135 bpm, I dont reckon its to slow at all. Its all about context....but soups if the music is good, it shouldnt have to be sped up to sound good, One thing i personally dont like about this style is that yeah, the melodies are all well and good (if not a little cheezy), but the basslines and beats are not complex enough, or hold enough groove ....or something

I'm not a fan of the G & D and Markus Shultz american "McProg"

It's a watered down version of 'real' prog imo.
