| but life always has the wannabes and that won't change. I have a g.f and a full time job, so I honestly don't give as much about music as I used to because life is full of other things. |

actually i'm neutral
deep/funky house (lawnchair generals)
drum n bass
that's what describes my tastes at the moment
and who cares anyway... listen to what you want
I don't hate any style of music, but some of them are just not my cup o tea... Every genre has at least 1 likable track anyway... |

| This is almost *ALMOST* as pointless as the current Tiesto thread. |

As everyone but Cobalt :P can notice, many threads continue turn into flame wars. People obviously don't want to discuss the topics of the thread, instead they want to use these threads as a battleground.
The purpose of this thread is to try and fix that issue cause it's getting to be pretty obnoxious at this point.
DEFINE THE WAR:
Left: People who enjoy the CURRENT sound offered by the likes of Armin, Tiesto and Markus.

COMPLETELY ING OBVIOUS OBSERVATION:
I give the following 2 cds to my UNBIASED tone deaf friend... Universal Religion 2004 and Involver. My UNBIASED tone deaf friend says "umm these are obviously two different genres/styles what do they have to do with one another? what do they have to do with one another? what do they have to do with one another?"... the answer NOTHING, absolutely NOTHING... but they are both discussed in one location.
End of story.
I'll spell it out for you. Its completely NATURAL for people to like different genres. Its completely NATURAL for people in one genre to not like another.
When you don't like a Genre you shut up about it. Yes I know this horrifies people like Cobalt :P who think that because they "used" to like a genre that they are allowed to comment on it. But you miss the point. You no longer like that genre.
Here i'll translate the argument to movies... (not to say I agree with the logic used)
Horror movies have low production values. Dramas have high production values.
ORY: Horror movies suck, you suck for liking them, only dramas are worth watching, when you get better taste in movies you will only like Dramas like me.
WTF? They are different GENRES. It's not about my tastes moving from Horror to Drama. Horror movies REGARDLESS of their production values service a completely different audience.
AGAIN listen to Universal Religion and Involver. COMPLETELY ING different audiences.
ORY: Where is the subtle character development in The Ring? I just watched Gosford Park, and the acting was amazingly nuanced.
WTF? They are different GENRES. It's not about my tastes moving from Horror to Drama. Horror movies REGARDLESS of their production values service a completely different audience.
****
I'll translate it to HardTrance. Imagine that 75% of the members of TA liked Hardtrance tracks, and HardTrance DJs.
I listen to a set from HardTrance Master Armin. Track 1: feels like a hammer on my head. Track 2: Now it feels like a Jackhammer. Track 3: My ears are bleeding. Track 4: i've died from a brain aneurism.
Obviously... regardless of anything else, Hardtrance is a genre I do not appreciate. Does it make sense for me to write 10 posts a day where I say variations on "Hardtrance sucks"? And every single thread I write "this music sucks" in turns into a flame war because people start arguing back and forth?
****
Back to my original point. Imagine this website was devoted to discussing Horror Movies and Dramas. How MORONIC would it be if the drama people dished abuse in every horror thread? You know intellectually that that makes no sense at all.
Horror (ARMIN) fans discuss horror amongst themselves. Drama (Sasha) fans discuss Drama amongst themselves. It is logical for different genres to discuss their music with OTHER members who like that genre.
Two major genres exists in these Forums. Some like one, some like the other (and the winners like me like both ;)), is coexistence really that hard to contemplate? Can you accept that some people APPRECIATE the sound that Markus plays without fearing it? |
wtf? |

What the fu*k?
Since when did not liking uncreative but popular pieces of Dutch epic tripe, a single subgenre out of dozens, mean I no longer like trance? Need I make this any clearer: I adore trance. That exactly why I am sometimes so vocal about the rising elements that I see suffocating its artistic progress.
(I'm on public computers for a few days, so expect -- and perhaps cherish -- my sporadic posts.) |
