Sure it sucks to get fined 1.4 million Euros, but at the same time I think most TranceAddicts would agree, it may not be morally wrong to listen to some mp3's without paying for them. But making money off of someone elses music is totally different and wrong.

yea definately, both are are wrong but djing with illegally downloaded files is a bigger no no, that's just like wtf u don't deserve to be a dj, go away

I think this just shows that the Music industry isn't about music, it's all about money. "CONTROLL MUST BE MANTAINED"

Djs can't be the only people eating, producers need food too.

Even though I think 1.4 is abit high unless he made LOADS of money from them, this is good I think, I'm glad this has happened and will hopefully set an example and will hopefully stop some people from doing it, I will admit I've downloaded my fair share in the past, but I don't anymore, only remixes from TAs and tracks that friends have made, if I wanna hear a track I use Chemical Records or one of the others for a clip, when it comes to mixing I would never even think of using material I don't own, its stealing from the people who help make this scene great, one thing does get me, is how they are able to prove there illegal, cos say I buy an MP3 burn it to CD then goto the club to spin, how the hell would I prove to them its legal?, has anybody here that has bought mp3s got anything like an electronic receipt or maybe sent something in the mail?

nice that they got him. and just because you got a song on CDR doesnt proove that you didnt download it. then the police can ask for the source of the file (i.e. CD, vinyl).
i know lots of djs myself who plays downloaded mp3 tunes which they burn to CDR. that is a big shame. i hope they hang them high

Anyways, what about playing tracks out that never got a release but there are mp3's of it... :nervous:

Or reconstructs of tracks that havnt been (and probably wont be) released?

probably nothing because if its not released, no one is making a profit out of the track, its not signed to a lable. Its stll copyrighted material though so who knows...how would they prove it illegal? call the producer ask him if he sent you a promo of the track?
