Picking up my apartment enough so I can pack everything to move.

Doing laundry cause I was away last week & haven't done laundry for 2 weeks. Weighed the laundry because it was so heavy and I have to carry it down 3 flights to the laundry room--it weighed FORTY pounds.

Have to start packing everything.

not-fun.

An average load of laundry consists of a 7 pound load.

You, my friend, have your work cut out for you.

And suddenly I'm not bored anymore.

yeah...I'm doing "spring-cleaning" & washing my sheets & bed-spread. It's 4 loads.

My only excitement is looking warily around for Dirk to have his revenge on me for reposting that photo of him.

My only defense will be throwing at you a shirt I hiked 10 days in last summer. In February I ran in it, then swam the Colorado River, then the shirt sat ouside on my balcony, festering for 3 weeks. No amount of detergent is making it smell less like Colorado River mold. I'd burn it, but I'd get cited for air pollution.

Wouldn't you like to know.

I was at home, at 3 pm, doing load #4 of laundry & packing box #6 of books & generally feeling sorry for myself. I'd gone out to get more quarters for laundry, & seen all the hipsters frolicing on South Congress Avenue for SXSW.

My friend calls, saying "free party at Hotel San Jose...I'm walking there right now." I like Hotel San Jose, & it's about 1/3 mile from my house. Me "I really need to pack--I have a nicer place to move into, I just need to pack all my junk so I can move."
"Well..give me a call if you change your mind."

The sucker that I am, of course I go to Hotel San Jose & spend 2 hours eating free food & drinking free wine on the patio, gawking at the scene, instead of packing. A beautiful storm blows through, with thunder & lightening & a double rainbow...

I get home, & my apartment manager saw it was raining & took all my clothes drying on the balcony & threw them inside my apartment so they wouldn't get soaked.

Austin is great.

Such a fine line between "really nice" & "kind of creepy". If I wasn't moving next week, I might find it creepy. Now, if my current apartment manager goes over to my NEW building & moves my laundry there...definitely creepy.
