Markus Schulz + NU NRG @ Spirit (2/18/2005) Review

Simply a sick night

First, Jason Jollins was superb in the hour and a half of his opening set that I caught. One of the best that I've heard from him.
Different kind of sound from what I've usually heard from him, but still fantastic nonetheless
He said that his first hour was even better. Did anyone catch that?

Markus Schulz then came on, though something like 20 minutes late.
I feel that his tunes are better for listening than for dancing, but anyhow, it sounded beautiful. I was loving it, and it seemed that the crowd was as well.
Many of the TA's who were up on the balcony had a chance to meet him after his first set.

Next up was "new nerg" :p, with their live performance
They played, among others, Freefall, Connective, Butterfly, Dreamland, Where the Streets Have No Name (for the encore) - for each one, a different version from what I was familiar with
They also played the riff from Born Slippy, which seemed to have Jen wildly jumping up and down. :)
I'm sure it was great for them to see a much larger audience than when they played at Arc.
Earlier in the night, they were also up on the balcony for a little bit, and some TA's had photo ops with them.

After that, Markus came back on. Too bad I wasn't able to stay for much of it, what I did catch sounded great down on the floor. Seemed like he was starting to play a little harder at around 5 am, when I left.

wow the music was really f*ckin good tonight. My only complaint is the sausage crowdiness at points of the night. Besides that I was totally blown away. Never seen jason jollins ,markus shultz or nunrg live, I must say the djs dnt up their mixes thats for sure. Wow they are awesome dj's , I have a new repsect for these two guys (jollins, shultz). This has been the best night ever at spirit for me. The music was just progressing all night I thought everything flowed very well and it was just such a well done performance. Maybe cause I was tired Nu-nrg wasnt as good for me as jason jollins and markus shultz. I used all my energy up in the beginning hehe. Nunrg was still off the sheezy, freefall was probably my favorite. Before tonight I didnt really like markus shultz style, but o man he ing rocked spirit. The night ended ed up though, my friend got his car towed away so we had to stand in the cold for a while, plus my jacket had puke all over it so i just threw it out and I was freezing my balls off.

This was an awesome night. I talked to Markus for a little bit upstairs before he began to spin. This was my first time seeing both Markus Schulz & NuNrg, and they both rocked spirit last night.

will have pics and vids

i caught the last half hour of jason jollins' set and i can definitely say that he did a great job before markus. markus's set was pretty good as a whole, tho some of the tracks kinda were more for listening than dancing. i still enjoyed the set. nu-nrg was where it's at. hard thumping trance every track, no time to rest, they just laid it on thick. of course, arturo was hanging out on the stage :p

after that it was onto sander... pics and videos to follow!!! :eyes:
