My brother's friend introduced me somewhat to Acid House in the very late 80s. He had these Mix Max compilation albums that was cashing in on the current Acid House trend in the clubs.

I've always had a special love for electronic music since I discovered Jean Michel Jarre, KraftWerk and Jan Hammer as a young kid so it was pretty easy to get into the exciting new so called "rave music" my new friends were listening to when I moved to start highschool in a new town back in 1992. After discovering X-Mix 1 - The MFS Trip, Trancemaster Volume 3 & 4 and then experiencing my first rave in 1993 I was pretty much hooked. When I heard Jones & Stephenson's First Rebirth a bit later same year I just knew this was gonna be with me for the rest of my life :)

My mom, for the most part, got me into EDM. She taught aerobics before I was even born so was always listening to some form of dance music. So I grew up even listening to the funny sounding 80's dance music and then just progressivly got into house and techno and now trance. It is pretty neat because even now when I make a mix I will bring it to her house and we listen to it from beginning to end. Her favorite is Tiesto cuz she said he is good for running. Which is true because a lot of his tracks layer. You get the simple beginning and then by the middle it is just this huge wave of energy and then while reaching the end of the song the layers come off one by one. Heh, she even tried to get me to let her come with me to see Armin @ Spirit this month... I dont think so... :p

Eurodance/happy hardcore stuff like 2Unlimited, Dune, Scooter introduced me to EDM in general ;) Must've been around '94-'95. The early MagiK albums introduced me to trance, borrowed them from my cousin :) That was in '98.

Friends persuaded me to go to a rave in Atlanta back in 1999, nothing has ever been the same since...

my cousin is the cofounder (with Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo, one of the Daft Punk) of Crydamoure, a french touch house label, and he produced for a while before. So I listen to electronic music since I'm 8/9 old.
