don't you know Tara...

...to go on message boards and push your ideologies on others, put down their education, intelligence and background and see how they react. If they react harshly, you have learned a lesson. If they don't react try again saying the same bull a different way...

Isn't that the perfect sociology experiement?

It's in a sociology text book from a class i took un 3rd year undergrad, there's an enture chapter on it, next time i go to my parents i can dig up the source for you if you are really interested in learning more- it's actually pretty interesting. The chapter was extremely interesting in that it talked about how the damily dynamic was historically not a nuturing unit, children dressed as mini-adults and were treated as such, there wasn't a lot of doting and such. If you contrast this w/ native culture, the ppl were more affectionate. the functioned as tribes rather than families, they didn't care about paternity b/c the whole group raised all the tribe's children and native didn't think about things in terms of ownership of property and land.

ok I see
so the comparison wss with Native American culture.
anyways, no need to dig up stuff, I take your word on it :)

Balanced research with multiple sources instead of one prof's point of view or agenda set by the faculty.

I dont mean to be so critical about this but every single one of my sociology courses was hardcore left wing biased.

Those are YOUR sociology courses and YOUR experineces- can you entertain the notion that maybe my experiences and information learned differ? I took a variety of history and sociology courses that dealt with this period of time because it was an interest to me, although some of the materials were text books, most of the materials were primary texts. If anything, the materials were based predominantly on the western view of the experience, b/c europeans could read and write english at that time. It's a cultural fact that europeans raised their children in patriarchal family units and had a strong sense of property, whereas aboriginals cared little about paternity and property and raised children as tribe. This is documented by europeans themselves.

I try very hard to keep an open mind about your posts, although I may not agree with some of your opinions, I don't try to belittle your education or knowledge base. Perhaps I am being naive but I would expect that same in return from you.

I wasnt trying to belittle your education at all. I'm Sorry if it came off like that. I was more or less belittling the education system as a whole of which we are both apart of. I don't question your wisdomI just question the way classes are taught in certain courses at school. Again, sorry if you thought it was a personal attack because it wasnt.
