Honestly? In the NICEST way, dont mean this in a bad way...
She wont want to keep her surname. Not because i wont let her,
but because she will want to do that for me. |
makes sense. only b/c ppl w/ similar world views tend to hook up. The same way he will look to find a partner that agrees w/ changing their surname upon marriage, I a question I asked, it was just something that was congruent withwill find a partner who would never in a million years ask that of me. From the time that I started dating, I've never dated anyone who would have expected me to take their last name, and this wasn't the rest of their opinions about life etc. |

Hell... I'd take my girlfriend's name if we ever got married... nothing wrong with that. Or maybe toss a coin for it or something. Truly, it doesn't matter to me at all. Certainly, I wouldn't expect her to take my last name unless she wanted to, but really, I'd rather be rid of it. My father was such a jackass... his last name can die.
As for kids, I don't plan on having any. Maybe if I did, I'd just name them #1, #2, #3, etc and put enough money away in the bank to let them pick when they're old enough. |

| I think the most shocking thing in this post is how many people here hate their parents  |

Who cares.
According to Canadian Stats, half of you will be divorced anyways. Taking the last name of your divorced EX husband is what you should worry about. |

Maybe it's just me, but I find that my Last name seems to mesh well with pretty much ANY woman's name, so I doubt there'd be a problem taking my name. It came close to happening @ one point. :nervous:
But yeah, It'd have to be something that myself and the wife-to-be would have to decide. If you love someone, you make it work, simple as that. Concessions have to be made sometimes. |

When I got married, I wanted to take a part of my wife's history, and her mine, so I suggested we hyphinated our last names.
Just out of curiosity Jay, pending engagement? |
