The only problem I see with the hyphen approach is the mega long names...

Not a chance in hell i would keep my last name. I know too well what it's like to have to learn how to write a last name thats takes up half the friggin letters of the alphabet!
Although, in Belgium, i believe women must retain their maiden name. Sucks!
My kids would have my husband's name i believe. My grandkids would have... whatever their parents chose! :D |

Yeah. I'd be pretty upset if she wanted to hyphenate it or something. It's like it isn't good enough for her. that noise. |

As for my wife's last name, I'd rather she took mine so my parents don't throw a fit. But I have no problems with her hyphenating as long as the kids have my last name. |
