Tiesto walking around during sets

I recently got my hands on two Tiesto vids, one from TIC2, he was playing silence(mmmmm) and he put the record on, and then proceded to walk around and hand out records...

the second was a benefit concert for Tsunami relief, and he put Adigo for strings on, and then proceeded to walk around and hand out records.

I know that people want signed stuff, and its great that he is willing to give it out...but during the set? common...atleast wait till the end like a normal performer.

Couldnt that time be spend properly matching the next song, or even trying to do better mixing?

I am a Tiesto fan, for sure..but i think it was very unproffessional for him to be doing this...anybody else agree?

Silence was the last song he played...he even stopped before it...got his together...put on silence and then went to the crowd while the song was playing...same with the other vid ;) it was like a special one last tune....same thing as he did here at the docks a year and a half ago...he put on dreams and came to shake hands and etc...

oh...but the tsunami relief video had like 35min more left on it, it was at the beginning of the video..to be honest, i just got upset and turned it off.

if its the last song, then it makes sense....when i get home im gonna watch the rest of the relief concert gig,...

going out and doing stuff like that is great at least he is being interactive with the crowd

I think this is almost the new 'Michael Jackson' type thing. I remember watching him take off a hat and zoom it off into the crowd. He then walks around and chucks off other clothes and the crowd goes wild.

I don't know how well it is for the booming DJ industry however. For someone who doesn't understand DJing, they may not be able to see how it's possible for the 'guy playing the music' to run around and not 'play' the music.

I don't know, I'm partial to both ideas. I think it's really good to give back to the crowd, but it also gives off a weird vibe for people who don't actually know what the DJ does.

omg, i was trying to get my friend to understand djing...and i had the TIC2 video, and i showed it to him, and he just said "well where the hell is the skill?"

it was very hard for me to explain, because tiesto was just walking around...maybe i show him a video of zabiela doing some stuff...

You would be very suprised man. It's quite hard for North Americans to understand how DJing works. There are so many immitation DJ's out there who have TT's but pretend to use them and play CD's. Or, they don't do proper mixing and just use a crossfader. Different things like that that have turned the DJ world upside down.

It's unfortunate but these people are ruining the image for the real people out there.

Hence why it is so hard to explain why a real DJ, mixing tracks properly and seamless is a real DJ as upose to the other guy.

it is incredible how many people dont know what real djing is about.

a bunch of my friends thought that every track tiesto or oaky played was their own work!

when they told me, i almost laughed in their face. And then slowly but surely explained that its other peoples tracks, and they fade between them.

and their obvious remark is "well that doesnt seem very hard"
and thats when i have to go into more detail...

most people are used to just seing singers or rock bands, and dont understand the concept. i try and spread the word, but there are so many people in the dark
