Stop ting on the family and just melt into the e-puddle, k...thnx. :p

And since you asked, here's my 12 step Rock-da-Guv program -- which will incidently come out in paperback during the summer :

1) Go early - That way you'll get to dance in some open space for the first 2 hours. After 12, the only move you can successfully execute is the one-two turn...that's one step forward, one step backwards, and don't worry about the turn...some bastard will do that as he barrels through you.

2) Once the rush starts at around 12, find a place you like and stay there...chances are if you move around, you'll be stuck taking the 30 minutes scenic tour which covers, oh - about 10 yards or so.

3) Don't go to the bathrooms after 12 unless you actually like walking on piss stained floors. If you really have to tip a kidney, find a cup (preferably not one you are drinking from) and a dark corner in which to relieve yourself. Once you're done nonchalantly place the cup on the speaker and walk away. You'll undoubtedly hear stories the next day about how some clubber mistakenly picked up a cup and got REALLLY ed up on what tasted like really weak tea... Smile, and be glad that wasn't you.

4) Grow a couple of inches before the night in question. Short people can expect to get elbowed in the head, shoved in the back, squashed, squished, molested, groped and occasionally spat on.

5) Don't look too pretty (if you're a girl) -- chances are you'll get gangraped by the juice monkey crew.

6) Don't look too pretty (if you're a guy) -- same thing, you'll get gangraped by the juice monkey crew (yeah, they don't discriminate too much)

7) Don't forget to wear deoderant -- non compliance of this rule will result in a pummeling by almost anyone in close proximity to you. If you're one of those freaks who gets turned on by sweat you'll find yourself in heaven. But for Gods sake, avoid licking the sweat that accumulates on peoples forehead as they dance...i tried it once. Yeah, turns out that's not a good way to meet new people.

8) Don't do insane amount of drugs, then climb the rafters and live out some retarded version of spiderman on acid. Everyone including the clubbers, dj's, bouncers, chicks, tricks, pimps and the 40 year old asians lying on the floor will collectively hate your guts for the rest of the night - and that's not the type of vibe we want at the GUVERNMENT.

9) Don't bust too many moves. Jealous clubbers will spill water close to your spot, and you'll probably end up cracking your head open while doing those airflares you think are so RAD !

10) Unless it's -30 outside, don't check your coat at the main entrance. Carry that with you unless you actually want to spend more time in the coat check line then partying at the Guv. If you're one of those s who just loves his/her mink coat and has to pimp it for us, go through one of the smaller rooms and use the coat check there.

11) Buy your drugs from the cracked out asians, but for heavens sake make sure he's over 40. The youngins don't have a clue about chopping and will probably sell you some vicodine laced with heroine. Oh, and tell him that Sid say's your good for a discount rate. ;)

12) Don't bitch about the Guv. Certain people will think you are lame...which you probably are if you go to the Guv, and then bitch about the Guv. Who does that anyway ? Pffft...

Bonus Tip : Carry change and don't pay the bitch ass bartenders with denominations above $5 unless you actually enjoy buying $15 drinks and tipping some snooty broad $10 for almost making it as a model.

Always remember that rudeness is a prerequisit if you're working at the Guv. You should expect to get treated like if you're there. It's part of the guv experience. Resistance is futile and so is bitching about how hot is was, or how crowded it was, or how much it sucked to have your ballsac groped by a 300lb bouncer who later took your G'd out ass home and tried his hand at the short game.

Finally...

Ignore all of the above and just go and enjoy the nite. The Guv is a superclub and like all massive venues there are going to be some negative aspects to partying there. That being said, they've been doing this a long time so believe that when they throw a massive party they pull out all the stops ! :)

Hope you have a great first party experience and take comfort from the sage advice of my 70 year old sex-ed teacher who never tired of remind us that "The first time is always the most memorable one..." :nervous:
