Tripping Daisies, Scorpions, Moist, Live.....from the top of my head

I agree about Live. In my opinion, if it weren't for the OKC bombing 10 years ago, and someone mixed in news commentary with their tune 'Lightning Crashes' we probably wouldn't know about them still.

Some from my time:

Stryper (when they tried to cross over into mainstream)
Night Ranger
Def Leppard
Quiet Riot
Rainbow
Kansas (minus Steve Walsh)

Some more recent:

Bush
Wallflowers
Nine Inch Nails
Atari Addict

Erm... everyone remembers Leftfield. They're still a key name in the British dance scene, even though they've been gone 6 years. Leftfield are the benchmark for all aspiring producers to live up to.

And whoever said Pink Floyd, The Police and Dire Straits is an idiot.

Omega_Blue

why, they were huge...and they don't get much radio play if any. Infact most people under the age of 25 (atleast that i have talked to) couldn't name 5 of their songs

maybe things are different where you live sorry

being lost to time wouldn't aply to any of the bands mentioned if you only talk about the people who listened to them and still listen to them, i'm talking about mainstream radioplay and discussion

of course bands like pink floyd and the police will never truley be forgotten by people knowledgable about music, and where current music came from.
