although im inclinded to agree with most of your points, please keep in mind that the US population wise, is much larger than Europe and Canada combined. This being said it would take more time for a type of music to permeate into the mainstream, especially a form that is as nontraditional as 'electronica'. HOwever we are making huge strides just this past weekend 45,000 people decended on an auditorium in downtown LA to here a rather impressive lineup including Carl Cox, LTJ Bukem, Armand Van Heldin and Tall Paul.

Oh btw am i wrong in thinking that Carl Cox is a BRITISHER????

Electronic Music may not be as mainstream as you think it is. Still i do agree that most people here in Holland just go with the flow. Most people attending a party do not really 'live the music.' I can imagine a party in the U.S. where everybody attending the party is really trance-minded. People sometimes may have to travel for hours to be able to attend a party. Here it's easier to attend a party (because they are more frequently organised, and the travel-distance is short), which may also cause the fact that many attendents just 'like' the music, but don't really live it. This is pretty annoying, so i wan't to give all the REAL tranceaddicts my greatest respect.

Hello All,

I am new to this site, but as i am from the UK i thought i would put in my "10 cents worth". I see where everyone is cooing from but i think that it is mainly the DJ's from mainland europe that are the Trance masters with a couple from the UK... As this is where Dutch trance started (Trance) as the trance that was over int he UK a couple of years ago was done by the PlasticMan and is totaly different.

So you see the sound of Trance has progressed along with everything else.. I those who say about Hard House is like trance etc... is lying Hard House has come from Hardcore... the old stuff from Dreamscape and Helta Skelta the true white glove stuff!!! But i also think this is many of the new sounds have started from the old RAVE sence, ( IS THE RAVE SENCE IN US DIFFERENT AS THEY TALK ABOUT BANDS WHEN THEY SAY RAVES) Garage mainly one of them... I remember Nicky Black Market, anyone else, who did garage along with the DreamScape crew!!

But there are loads of sounds now House, Deep House, Hard House, Trance, Techno, Jungle and Drum and Bass to name but a few. So there seems to a type of music to suit what mood or what ever your into... Which has to be a good thing..

Carl Cox has gone down hill seince His early days!!

Well this is what i think i might be right i might not but this is what i feel and having been brought up listerning to RAVE (Hardcore & Drum 'n' Bass) and the PRODIGY..

Peace

JB

P.s. Didn't Electronica start with Rick Wakeman, Eletric Light Orchestra and Mike Oldfield...

Actually we have the same situation going on here, theres people who go to the parties that have no clue what kinda music is playing, and sometimes go just for the drugs...however theres other people who go and still dance and have fun even if they dunno much and that's cool too...

I have to agree with JammyBee... Hardcore has been more important for our nowadays elctronic music than we think! Since the hardcore years (begin 90-ties) in Holland, electronic music has been very popular over here! After a couple of years the people had enough of the Hardcore sound so the Hardcore sound changed... it splitted into the faster Speedcore (this stream died very quikly!) and in the slower, melodic, Trance/Techno sound...
That's we're the trance/techno music came from! (in my eyes it is)

Another thing that, I think, is wrong:
Some people say that house is the disco 70-ties sound, combined with some new tunes! That is soooo wrong!! House is oldskool! The music before the hardcore generation.
House= Speedy J - Pullover,
House= DHS - House of God,
House= LA Style - James Brown is dead.. etc.
...THATS HOUSE!!!!

Why do you think that Holland has so much good deejays??? Because of Holland's house/hardcore history; the dj's from today have been raised with electronic music!! That's why!!
(dont have to tell you that hardcore has been invented in Holland and has been extremely popular here??)

Well, thats all I wanted to say for now...!

Good night!

Mainly i think it doesent matter where u live or who u are , just party and feel free! Trance , Techno and all the other Electronic music has also a Message , of love peace and unity.....

Example:

let me say something about the History of the Loveparade , it started 1989 in Berlin/Germany with " 150 " Ravers.....10years later we had " 1.500.000 " (1.5Million) Ravers.... from all over the Planet.....
They got an wonderful idea and realised it to let the Loveparade be in other parts of the World/Europe like in Zürich/Swizerland/Streetparade (this year 750.000 Ravers) also Vienna/Austria , Leeds/England and yesterday finished Tel Avivs Loveparade with 300.000 Ravers.....
and it gets bigger year to year , and will hopefully be soon everywhere around the world!

But it dosent matter how many Ravers , i mean its the "Spirit-thing"!!!
Let ALL be ONE! , TOGETHER , EVERYWHERE around the World/Universe sharing the same Feeling of LOVE , PEACE and Harmony......

and dont let us get this interesting main-Topic get missunderstood or childish!

If u want to know more about Loveparade than take a look at : http://www.loveparade.de
(its in multiple languages there , all infos , archive , gallary etc.)

and dont forget : One World - One Loveparade..... ;=)
