yes they are the best.
I am not looking to buy though, just asking the experts opinions here.
the Subarus are good cars, but why don't they make them look alittle better, very ugly imo :(

I drive 2002 Z24 Sedan, 2.4, Automatic, 150hp, 155 tourque, well and I can say one of the most reliable cars out there. 63 000 km on it and the only thing i had problem with was a driver's power window (and I am pretty agressive driver). I had the 2L coke burst when I was openning it and the contents spilled on the window. Windows was so sticky motor had trouble openning it and closing it. Well, now it is fixed and was coverd by warranty. My lease is alsmost expired and I so in love with that car I think I am going to buy it off.
Friend of mine was shopping around for the car for like 5 month. He had no preference as to what car to buy, domestic or import, he wanted the best deal for the money. Based on research, test drives, interiour, exteriour, power factors he ended up with 2000 Z24 for 7000 bucks (100 000 km on it) including plates, taxes and tests. He more than loves it.
My dad has 2002 Grand Prix GT. 60 000 km on it, he never had to stop by the dealership other then oil changes. The car flies with it's 200HP and I love the handling, the interior and the looks. The looks of new GP sucks ass though.
Before cavalier I had 1990 chevy lumina with 3.1L V6 block for almost 3.5 years. The damn car died with 320 000km on the tachometer, I blew the gasket. IT was unbelievable car, in 150 000 km I had to change only the alternator and the starter. I loved that vehicle, there was something about it.
There is no need bashing Domestic Vehicles. BASED on MY experiences domestic cars are very good deal for money.
Just look at 2005 vettes, 2005 mustangs and of course CTS-V and STS-V. Priceless!!!
There is absolutely nothing against Import Cars other then cost of maintenance, price and the whole stupid culture of sticking the enormous size exaust on the little civic. |

You are the exception with Cavaliers. They are the tiest, most disposable vehicles on the road.
Those 3 other cars listed are the only redeeming domestic vehicles. Everything else pretty much sucks compared to their import counterparts. |

There is a reason 3-Series' are so popular. They are really incredible machines. Very civilized, but when you want them to go, they'll get up and boogie. I personally adore them.
However, if we're going for wretched excess and insanely ridiculous good looks, look no further than the new TVR Sagaris.

After doing endless amounts of research, looking at hundreds (literally) consumer reports, Consumer Guides ratings (websites - http://auto.consumerguide.com/, Yahoo! and MSN auto ratings and reviews), spending hours on "building my cars" on the companys' websites and calling a whole load of dealerships I would like to say that the best and cheapest options for a good NON AMERICAN car would be the Toyota Corolla and Nissan Sentra at just over 20K...Things that were considered were - a. Must have ABS breaks, b. power windows and all that stuff on the inside, c. automatic + air conditioning.
Mazda came out to be over 23K...sure the most basic one is advertised at around 17K but none of these cars come with ABS breaks...I (well mostly my mom who'll be driving the car) need ABS breaks and that option only comes in the higher models and with much more expensive packages that totally you over.
Cheaper option that seems to have good reviews is the Hyundai Elantra sedan at about 20K sharp but I don't know how much I trust Hyundai :p
Anyway...good luck with the search! ;)

OH MAN I AM SOOOOOOOOO with you on that one...100000000%....not to mention all these packages also drive up the insurance costs!!!
They guy aparently told me you can pick and chose things on the European cars but not on the Japanese ones :(
The two i'm really impressed with right now are the Honda Civic LX-G, Toyota Corolla LE. Civic has some cool advantages of the Corolla, but the Corolla at the same time has advantages of it's own. Both are pretty much the exact same price... |

that's a major pet peeve of mine too...granted we'll pay more as the # of factory orders will go up, but whatever. Paying for a bunch of crap you don't want, just to get one thing that's only offered in a package is ridiculous.
give me a/c, a moonroof, decent tires/wheels and I'm good...keep the expensive navigation systems, leather seats, upgraded stereo, etc. |
