That was yet another hip hop thug night.

Look..these kinds of shootings at hip hop thug hellholes have been going on since the 80s. I remember the calypso hut, paradise hall, and all kinds of places being in the news time and time again in places like scarborough and rexdale, just like the crappy dump that got shot up last week. Its just no one really cared until now because suddenly the entertainment district started attracting the same crowd about 3 years ago due to a massive format change into hip hop. There is no doubt that this is why there are problems there now. I miss the mouthy ginos. Sure they acted tough but when it came down to it they were too wussy to carry a gun.

True most of those ginos have no guns, but some of those fights were bad.I remember the worse gino fight was on the Richmond street by Moneyand there was like 20 bouncers from like 3 clubs fighting like 30 persian ginos with swinging around their belts and hiting everyone and there was blood all over and there was no cops to be seen anywhere and finally they all took off.So I cant really say gino fights are any better.

I was at Film a few nights before the shooting. Although the place didn't look sketchy, i can confirm it had the weakest security i've ever seen. Forget about pat downs, they didn't even ask for ID's. We just showed up and were allowed inside. No wonder it was so easy to cap someone there a few days later.

Too bad for the victim (wrong place at the wrong time i guess) -- I'm not buying into the hype though. People don't get shot here everyday, so I'm still comfortable walking the streets of toronto without a vest on. The way i see it, you can't make a huge deal out of one incident or you'll just end up sitting home at night... I might go back to Film again. Just cause some foo with a gun started unloading doesn't mean a venue is dangerous ALL the time.

I avoid thug hip hop parties in run down banquet halls though....

Too bad you cant, from what I heard the club is/will be shutdown and the owner is buying another club. so RIP Film I guess. this is not 100% confirmed btw.

That's unfortunate. Instead of buying a new place, the owner should have invested in some metal detectors. Cheaper, safer, and ultimatley an idea that makes sense given the clientel your establishment attracts.

Hip hop clubs without metal detectors and basic security --- that's like placing a diamond encrusted sign outside, inviting all wannabe thuggish bitches to run up in that place with a burner tucked away in their shorts.

Monkey see -- Monkey do...

MTV is a 24/7 circus for the insane. No wonder people think they Gangstah...

Well once a club gets bad reputation there is nothing that could fix it,people will always remember the bad things.Even if he does get metal detectors not alot of people will show up so he'll end up loosing money soon,so selling the club is the only way I guess.

I heard there was a shooting at guv on an EDM night. This flyer monkey I know said he was there, and even put his finger in the victims bullet wound to stop the bleeding, then wrapped his t-shirt around the finger. Got the bouncers to call the authorities, and then told the reports that swarmed to the scene that it wasn't club related.

This same guy who told the story offered to sell us a bottle of Dom that he stole from Guv VIP in the main room on the dancefloor for $25.

This news was coming from the same guy who told us about his time in jail....as we were giving him a ride to the guv that night from St. Catharines.
