That wasn't my point. Vengaboys will be considered cheese/trash by most people here in their original form, like Usher is in this case. However, when MIKE, Airscape and Transa remixed their tunes, noone complained about it cos they liked them. |
Well be fair, for a lot of those mixes you wouldn't even know it was a mix of a Vengaboys track unless someone told you. Granted that it is remaking trash in a lot of cases but in most cases it's taking the simplest of elements from the track and not keeping much else in tact except maybe a vocal sample.
Look at Sander's mix of Rock Your Body by Justin T. The original was a commercial hit and then Sander's mix turned it into something completely different and fantasticaly better. Sure the mix even became fairly popular but it wasn't near the commercialism of the original. |

That's irrelevant. Both EDM and r'n'b/hiphop qualify as "commercial ", because they both end up in the charts and both have mass appeal. And either way, this has nothing to say whatsoever on how the tune will end up sounding. I didn't see you nor anyone else complain when people started bigging up the remixes of Vengaboys for instance, because people liked the end result. |
I think the reason why 747 is having a problem with it is not because of how commericial it is, but because of how black Usher is. |

hip-hop, rap, RnB, dancehall, ni**er pop, whatever you call it....it shouldn't be allowed to mix those songs into ANY form of EDM...
But I guess most of you in this thread disagree...
I'm just trying to say leave EDM alone...don't merge it with commercial like that.. |
EDM is commercial you ing idiot.
edit: I see this point has already been covered above. Nevermind, I can still re-itterate it I suppose. |

If it works and produces a good track than why not. EDM is merged with commercial all the time. It's the reason artists like Kylie Minogue get remixes done. There are a lot of good mixes of commercial stuff out there although like it was said I think it's more the race card than commercial stuff being remixed.
If EDM wasn't commercial there wouldn't be so many forums and websites dedicated to it. There wouldn't be so many clubs playing it. It wouldn't have such a following and there wouldn't be turnouts of 1000's of people at the big events. |

without people mixing "that commercial " a lot of us wouldn't be into EDM in the first place. people like (gasp) junior vasquez and davidson ospina mixing popular artists just opened the door for me and dance music. |

| Can't stand the vocals in the "Caught In The Club Mix" but the dub is some of the best work from Sander I've heard in a while. |
