Just a point to reaffirm Shadowolf's growing separatist movement in Alberta. I live Alberta and am employed in the provincial political arena. He is correct...you should hear what the rural MLAs have to say about the Liberal party and the federal government. With the scandals and the Belinda defection...believe you me...Separatism is thriving.

Somehow i'm not surprised about this. I don't support the PCs myself but i don't think it would have been a bad thing to have another election called, just to show the Liberals you really can't away with scamming away money like that...

What's to stop them now from continuing to bribe people and use your tax money? It's not like Canadians have shown they were truly pissed off about it.

Bah... this is pointless.

Id move to Alberta if it seperated. Low taxes and prosperous economy without having to subsidize things like newfoundland and liberal waste... sounds good to me!

Unfortunately...I'm quite positive it will never happen. I just wanted to communicate that the rest of the country, especially Albertans aren't as quick as Easterners to rationalize the inappropriate actions of the Liberal government. Hell, I work in the Petro Canada building which is still referred to as "Red Square" due to the NEP which took effect over 25 years ago.

If Harper was smart he would give up the leadership of the Conservatives. He had a perfect opportunity to take down the liberals with the election and failed. He has had two opportunities with budgets and did nothing with the first one and then failed with the most recent one. There is no confidence in the conservative party and they need to find a leader who can get them over the hump. Personally, I am glad Harper is the leader cause the liberals will continue to stay in power as long as Harper is the leader.

What people keep forgetting is that of the 7 western countries canada is the only one to actually have a surplus and not be running a deficit. Harper would love to cut spending so he can line his party's pockets.

Although your logic is suspect and flawed...let's say I agree and Harper is out to line PC pockets. I still like the mathematics of cutting spending and lining pockets as opposed to the Liberal's stance of increasing spending and lining pockets.

Fortunately....we canadians have a great lifestyle....compared to pretty much any other counrty.....in order to keep our lifestyles the government has to spend money. The fact the government can spend less then it makes is amazing.....maybe the U.S. could take a note or two on that:D

And what you are forgetting is that this surplus came from massive cuts in spending such as health care by the federal liberals resulting in downloading onto the provinces. This along with other services such as housing which the liberals also got out of. People label Harris as the slash and burn guy meanwhile Martin did more cutting than anyone in the last 12 years. And now everyone thinks hes the great saviour because hes reimplementing a fraction of what he cut. Talk about being bribed with your own money!

People really are gullible sometimes.

It will be interesting to see if we can stay debt free without tax increases after all the goodies martin has promised to try and stay in power. My guess is he will now fail to deliver on some of the promises or defer them over a number of years. I personally never believe anything in a budget that goes beyond 2 years.
