| There are alot of retards that go out in the "trance" scene. All they care about is taking pills, but if you have a true love for the music then go support it. If you got into trance because you wanted to party you are probably one of them. If you dont love the music stay at home and STFU |

| There are too many threads out there on the state of trance, why start another? :) But seriously, I am in the I-don't-think-trance-is-dead camp, the scene is alive and well, it is also progressing into various states. I still go out to trance events monthly to enjoy my dose. There may be loads of nutters who attend events to get ed up, but what is the difference between these events and a rock/R&B/Garage event? People get ed up too but in a different way/drugs/whatever. |

I dont really have a problem with drug use, but the false glamour that surrounds EDM in general tends to make me upset. From the outside one is lead to believe that the feelings are genuine, that the people act the way they do because it is part of who they are. People get tricked into beleiving that they are going a party full of cool people and awesome music.
But it just isn't real, what they actualy see is yet another silly gimmick and a room full of ed up kids who don't care.
I'm not against taking some things to have some fun, im against the general fakeness that seems to infest any form of popular entertainment. I am just tired of all the lies, I want something real and genuine for a change. I am just sick of being lied to, trance markets itself as being this beutiful masterpiece but it just isn't. The kids are all rushing on pills that make them think it is so special, but when its time to party its just the same damn thing over and over.

alrite... i sorta agree with you... but not really.
we all listen to EDM = ELECTRONIC "DANCE" MUSIC. you all seem to forget that important middle word. it IS all about dancing and having fun. it IS about going to a club, drinking, having fun with friends, and even doing drugs. who the hell is trying to convince other people that trance is full of "cool people" and "awesome music" if you like it, listen to it, if not then don't. i go to many different parties with different dj's and a lot of times it IS the same, but the reason i go there is to listen to music and have fun with friends and yes, even DANCING. damn, and have u ever tried to write a piece of music? ever? its not easy to write something completely ground-breaking. hell its even hard to write a decent melody sometimes, let alone put together entire tracks and albums of high quality. it takes A LOT of effort and time to learn how to produce and put together a professional looking track, many years even for most people. how can you expect people not to be happy and want to promote their tracks that took 4 or 5 years before they could even reach that professional level? to be excellent and original at the top-level is very very difficult. and i honestly believe "MOST" of the producers who make this "unimaginitive boring and recycled music" actually really care about what they make and aren't just pumping out tracks to feed the crowd or to make more money. think about all the producers in our amateur forums. a lot of us are really trying, learning, and working hard and no matter how boring and repetitive our stuff is, our feelings are genuine. making assumptions like that is just friggin ridiculous.
there is no trickery involved and no one's falsifying anything.... its music.... if u don't like it, don't listen to it.. |

| Wow, this has to be one of the most f'ed threads I've seen lately. Maybe I'm just different, but there is alot more on my plate to worry about than "OMFG trance is dead!!!!". I just listen to what I want to listen to attend the occasional party. Simple as. I stay away from dissecting wether the trance of the earlier 90's has more merit than what's produced now and if the scene is alive or dead or if anyone really gives a f*ck anymore. I still enjoy listening to it and spinning it so I'm happy. |
