I'd recommend that Delta should spend 6 months on the streets of LA as a crack whore while she learns some culture, sexes herself up a bit and loses the nice girl next door image.

lol werd to that.

not sure her publicist would agree though. it's the good girl image that sells her millions.

her 2nd cd sucked ass.

its because of you tossers that pop singers have no talent at all, all you're looking for is a crack whore.

agreed. the reason most pop remains so crap is coz its all about image and marketability. that shouldnt have anything to do with music imo. music should always be about how it sounds. not the cup size of the singer

LOL!!!

POP is exactly that - marketing.

and face it sex sells. I'm sure I don't need to list the top selling pop artists of recent times for you to agree with that.

not disagreeing at all, but i dont think pop HAS to be about marketing. or at least it shouldnt be. there are some talented vocalists in the pop world. how someone looks shouldnt have a bearing on whether they can succeed in the entertainment environment. i know the opposite is the case, but i reckon thats fvcked and the world is full of shallow, stupid people.
DaveBegic
nah its cause desperate s like you encourage it.

if an artist has talent, they will have talent.

sure, it doesn't HAVE to be about marketing, but in the world of pop (in any business really) effective marketing increases their exposure.

very mature response there dave hahaha.

The pop war is primarily waged and won amongst the teenager segment, where it's young females that dominate sales. So the "desperate s like you" comment is unjustified.

I would bet that more girls than guys bought spice girls and britney cds. Now if only i knew somebody that would have such statistics.

btw, i was only joking with my initial reply to tobias.
DaveBegic
mature maybe not, honest yes.

the reason why i seldom listen to the radio is because the music is .

and what does this have to do with marketing or said talent?

i'm in the same boat. i hate radio commercials also.
DaveBegic
i dunno anth.. you'd just hope that when referring to someone's talent you were referring to their ability in a particular field they participate in.. ie. a sprinter sprints, a painter paints.. but a supposed "music" star is meant to look good above everything else..?

Personally I think that the easiest option to make serious money in pop is to be a Delta Goodrem, which is essentially to produce tacky tear jerker love ballads that will be embraced by the 12 - 18 year old girls that buy singles, and their mums who buy the albums.

If you want to be instantly successful which end of the spectrum between love softish tunes and risky out of the box music would you choose?

Look at the Australian Idol graduates, most of them take the easy route and produce softish music that aims for the highest heart pulling crap factor as possible. Making music that pulls the heart strings is called the easy way out for song writing, as the most manufactured artists around will testify (such as the Australian idol dummies).

All bands and artists know that its the softer songs which sell the most, and any musician with a little integrity will ensure that only say 1 in 10 songs is some lovey dovey romance love ballad that ensures enough sales of their album to support the real music. I have little respect for artists like Delta who aim for the maximum emotional effect with every song they make.

Delta has a decent voice and amazing talent but until she starts producing music that is far away from her current balladic crap and starts to push some boundaries she won't have my respect.
DaveBegic
im confused.. you were encouraging her the other minute to pick up a more of a slutty look have "more spice", now you're requesting that she "push boundaries"..

what boundaries besides those in your pants does she "push" when she "learns some culture, sexes herself up a bit and loses the nice girl next door image."
