Excellent, excellent movie...Perfect casting, perfect mood, great performances...

I could understand trancaholic's concerns about the movie, but I honestly think the fight scenes were adequate. I wasn't expecting Yuen Wo-Ping choreographed martial arts. I was expecting a hieghtened form of streetfighting, which what was delivered. Maybe the cuts from one shot to another were a bit too quick, but it wasn't like I couldn't follow it. And I think Chris Nolan wanted to focus on the situation at hand, and that was Scarecrow's job of poisening the water supply. On the other hand, it wasn't a big leap for Bruce Wayne to get into complete superhero mode since he was ready after his training in the Himalayas or wherever he was.

Everything about this movie was great. Hell, even the opening shot of the Batman symbol was bad-ass.

Gary Oldman was great, Tom Wilkinson was great, Christian Bale was excellent, Katie Holmes, Morgan Freeman, and Michael Caine....excellent....Cillian Murphy, thumbs up...

This is not only the best Batman film I've ever seen, but this is best action film I've seen since The Matrix...Definitely a must see on IMAX...

ehh... fight scenes were still way to weak.

i mean... who the hell wants to look at the arms and the mid section and flashes of black clothing for the whole time. at least have a slightly wider viewing angle of the characters so we can see a little more.

Hi fr0st:

I agree. Christian Bale plays a very multidimensional Batman. I like how he plays down the Bruce Wayne alter ego and intensifies his focus on the not only serious and empassioned, but also morally conscious and devastatingly sarcastic "Batman" in his quest to "save" Gotham. I saw it yesterday and I must admit that it rocked my week. Mangia mangia!! What a feast for the eyes!! :)

edit: The fact that he's like a martial artist superhero is muy sexy. I think I've found a new crush- Batman...

saw it last night. I thought it was great...not Spider-man great, but definitely one of the best comic book movies I've seen. Christian Bale was awesome as expected, definitely my favorite of the 4 batmans so far. The villains...eh. I guess they wanted to focus more on how Bruce Wayne actually became Batman as opposed to pitting him against a classic DC comic villain. Thumbs up.

I wish someone would make a Batman Live Action movie based off of the cartoons. Like filmed Sin City-style with the digitized backgrounds... and this Batmobile...

Man... I'd die...

Finally got around to seeing it last night. First of all, I am a huge Batman fan and one that was hugely dissapointed by the last to stabs at making a Batman film.

I have to say that I was entertained and kept in my seat. I am happy that special effects werent carried away and that the movie was kept believable, to some extent. The "Tumbler" driving on the roof thing got a bit carried away, but was fun to watch. I am glad that nipples were also kept off of the Batman suit. ;)

Anyway, in all fairness I believe a good job was done in keeping Batman a dark character as well as the city. But I honestly still have to say that the first Batman was and always will be THE best Batman movie ever. You can't beat Michael Keaton as Batman and you definitely cant beat Jack Nicholson as the Joker. Tim Burton was and still is the only director that could ever be perfect to direct a Batman movie. And I have to say now, that the Batman costume in the first one is clearly the best of all 5 movies. And I am sure that if they make another one, which they did hint at the end, that the Batmobile will make its presense. Again, I don't see how any new Batmobile could top the first.

I obviously went to the movie ready to compare it to the first. It did well, but the first Batman is still... clearly, the best. :D

You forgot to mention the Prince also did the soundtrack for the first one. The darker, the better, in my honest opinion. That's why I like this one a lot better than the first. The first one winked at the camera a little too much; they knew they were doing a comic book movie and that's how it was executed. This is why I like Batman Begins so much, because each actor was fully emersed in their character.

To use another example, it's also why the Indiana Jones movies worked: Speilberg said that the audience would only believe that Indiana Jones was going after the Lost Ark of the Covenent if you saw Indiana Jones on the screen and not Harrison Ford playing Indiana Jones.

Hmmm, I see what you are saying but I also don't feel as though the characters were "winking" in the original first one. I also felt that the Batman character and city was kept dark. I feel both movies did equally well in that part of the story, no doubt. I am just speaking as an overall better Batman movie. Like you said or were trying to say though, Highmay, I think Batman Begins did a better job of introducing each character. That is one advantage this movie had over the original.

I wasn't expecting fly-by-wire stunts neither. My beef with the fight scenes was that they were basically a rapid series of different close-ups. I couldn't tell which character had the upper hand (but was of course expecting it to be Batman, except during the first parts of the fights with the major villains), and basically just sat them out - waiting for one of the combatants to lie defeated. Maybe I'm just getting old, but I haven't really had this problem before, so a more plausible inference is that it was the fight scenes that were badly done.

ok so i finally saw this... christian bale is a great bruce wayne, great batman. i loved how everything tied in nicely with the flower and scarecrow. just everything was put together really well. i think it's better than the original with keaton/nicholson/billy dee!!!! :haha: so yeah. good jokes at the right time, action was on point... i didn't think anything was over the top. i thought, as has been mentioned before, that the fight scenes could've been shot at wider angles, but that's my only complaint.

liam neeson was diabolical, as was watanabe. it was nice seeing oldman in a good-person role. holmes wasn't bad as the ADA... i thought the guy that played jon crane/scarecrow could've been used more, but he played the role well... can't wait for dvd lol
