Sly guy, it is a plain and simple " popularity" contest, which tells us what? you guessed it! "whats popular"!!!!! Atb sucks balls, but he's obviously popular, so my point is still on the money.

My point is, is that 3000 people can influence the outcome of a poll which is suppost to be representitive of millions? Seems like the cross section of the polled clubbing populace is woefully undersized.

I live in Melbournes cbd and have the pleasure of watching melbournes little kandy kids gurn their heads off out the front of my apartment building every weekend.
I have been to quite a few hard nights and used to enjoy hard trance quite alot so i also have had the pleasure of seeing first hand how ed up the "majority" get at hard nights. I didnt say other genres have none of this, just far far less and they are not as openly munted in public every weekend.

we have the EXACT same situation in Toronto with what we like to refer as 'the cracked out asians'. A lot of the more experienced clubbers here [househeads, breakers, jungalists] refer to people like these in the exact same fashion your are doing now. It's not that drugs aren't prevalent in the house/jungle/breaks scene here, it's just the drug use is a little less obvious, or out of control. Cut em some slack, the young ones will learn, and they'll be all the better for it. But the fact is, if you like dance music, you will be around drugs and excessive drug use, whether it be by hard trancers or fluff trancers. So instead of letting it ruin your night, just either ignore it or laugh it off, because there's nothing you can truely do to stop it. And if you do havbe a problem with it, then maybe that particular scene isn't for you.

house.

me dead that was an ugly crowd. I dont think any drug available anywhere in the world could have made that an enjoyable night.

/ON TOPIC/

JPL - Yeah i do agree with your point of view! Would love to see some more Marco V inspired tech-trance acts making an impact on the melbourne scene or the world scene for that matter. Bit concerned about his leaning towards house/progressive(??).

the thing is the sort of style that guys like marco v/eddie halliwell/john askew play is not for everyone. many can appreciate trance, but not all can appreciate the harder 'tek' side of their sets. second issue is the supporting acts. pharmacy parties are generally good with mixed tek/trance styles but on the past two occasions the trance is leaning towards the hardstyle which can do our heads in.

I thought i had tinitus (spelling?) after the last pharmacy event.. the ringing in my ears didn't go away for almost 4 days afterwards! Not a pleasant experience.

BTW you just listed 3 DJ's i absolutely love to hear live. I dont think one style of music will ever be appreciated by everyone. I can't really appreciate much hardstyle, 90%+ of hardstyle productions are utter , it takes a lot of searching to find the few 'good' tracks in existence.

The event with Thomas Krome looks pretty cool, Organ Donors have a lot of fun behind the decks which translates to fun on the dancefloor! Too bad The Metro's dancefloor is virtually non-existent and therefore i will be as well at this particular pharmacy.

I had a great time at Slinky, if some of you hated it, more fool you for going.

Master Kaos was atrocious. His tracks were all stale uplifting trance numbers. Don't know what was going on there. Murder was the bass sounded ing awesome on the big system though. His scratching which is normally really good sounded terrible as well.

Fergie played a bit minimal and very twisted for the first hour before building it up and banging it out for the rest of his set. He was awesome. Dropped a couple of old school tracks amongst some of the most banging Swedish techno going round. I couldn't fault him, he was wicked and exactly what I was hoping for. He was dancing round during his set and during BK's set he came out on stage dancing with a bongo drum and then some angel wings. Total legend.

BK played a bit more of a party set but it was still more towards the banging techy trance he plays nowadays instead of the hard house he used to play. He was awesome as well.

The worst thing about the night was the sound. I think they had the bass way too high and were pushing it far too hard. Most of the high and mids were drowned out by the bass which was distorting crazily even by midway through fergie's set, so you can imagine what it was like by 7am. :nervous: I had custom molded earplugs in and it was still far too loud.

LOL @ some idea that listening to hard dance gives you musical prowess over anything.

No, you do not have a wide range of taste because you listen to trance & prog & hard dance & drum and bass & some other "EDM".

Man thats so gay.

Im offically now against anything that you can dance to.

yeah fair call, though Fergie got to #8 on the dj mag poll when he played hard house so when he is #1 headliner at Slinky, it’s fair enough that he drops a couple of big tracks from that period. I don’t think anyone could argue two classic hard house tracks in two and a half hours is much of an issue anyway.

Kaos still sucked. Sand In My Shoes and Breathing? he should go to the bass station naughty room for that.
