Point taken, local hard trance DJ's do often play main stage at big events.. but maybe he meant international hard trancers on the main stage?? :tongue2
Im just clutching at straws now haha! |

Thats exactly what i'm saying dude, i realise there is a good local hard dance scene, but when it comes to big festivals there is a lack of what i categorise as international hard dance dj's.
Yes they have smaller rooms, but when was the last time scott project, yoji biomehanika, cosmic gate, hennes and cold, etc played at anything bigger than pharmacy. (yes, advetjah and digital did have big name hard dance djs, but they were the only ones i can think of in the last three four years (know someone is going to prove me wrong))
I'm big fan of progression through out the night (or in a set thats why i love pvd), but i think it would be awesome to have
progressive trance -> trance -> more enrgetic trance -> than pumping hard trance/dance.
i.e. armin -> pvd -> lee haslam/ johan gielin -> YOJI |

I agree with ya taubs
But I think this is the wrong forum to express that opinion, since you know it isnt cool to like hard trance here...
How I envy seeing the Defcon, Sensation Black, Qontrol, Intenze lineups... I see the big wig trance djs play at big events like Two Tribes, GK and it doesnt get the dance floor moving, sure its nice to listen to but dancing is another thing....
I know exactly what you mean about the energy hard dance provides, I notice at those big events (TT, GK) when a hard dance track is dropped the crowd is alot more active and energized.
Hard dance is nobodies cup of tea on this board, theres the select few that do enjoy it tho ;)
I'd love to see Yoji or Scot project or Derb on the decks at Vodafone arena.
It does confuse me a bit tho, hard dance and hard trance is obviously huge in Melbourne, yet the big events are saved for trance djs... Lets hope the Pharmacy crew start securing bigger venues |

you need to start rallying up those hard dance promoters to get their asses into gear and hold some big ass events reza!
even if the hard dance guys combined their events for one night or something, like the hard dance/trance version of GK or TT, that could work.
or become a promoter yourself :D |

nah. they're two different things. most of the time hard trance has more heavier kick, while still retaining the mid and highs, compared with the kicks in trance which is slightly more subtle. hard dance is basically the spectrum which envelopes the harder styles, in which hard trance is a part of. you can say that a hard dance set will have hard house and hard trance and hard nrg tracks in it.
while a tek set can be consisted of minimal, tech-house, tek trance and hard techno (schranz) and still pretty enjoyable, a hardstyle set pretty much does your head in, really. :toothless

Lack of hard dance in Melbourne? About bloody time!
I think this year's GK lineup can only be a great thing for the dance/trance scene. I maintain hard dance cannot be enjoyed unless copious quantities of drugs were consumed in the first instance... and the memory of a great night was left with an incredibly false impression of how good the music actually was.
Bring on the musical, melodic headliners and may more people realise how beautiful trance can really be. |
What a load of s****! Your point about drugs is insulting. How can anyone listen to that dreadful stuff churned out by the likes of G&D without drugging up first?
Who the hell wants to stand around swaying (after all you can't dance) to something slow and dull? You go to a night out to enjoy yourself, not lapse into a coma due to extreme boredom.
Anybody saying things like 'how beautiful trance can really be' cannot be taken seriously can they? Yes, let's all hold hands and rejoice in the lord and listen to Lange's 'Frozen Beach' all night. God I need to be sick in a bucket...... |
