Why don't you just start promoting yourself like everyone else is, no need to be a goodie goodie using the self-promotion thread when theres no moderators about...

For me DJing is a hobby, not something im trying to make a living off? This means I don't spam everyone to get my heard, it's more of a take it or leave attitude. Do you want me to pm you next time I make a mix?
If this was in relation to what I re: Anoymst's mix, I think I said a similar thing to pana (perhaps? was a while ago) about a promo he did that had a low number of tracks for the time it was and wasn't sarcastic. If you are only mixing 9 tracks in an hour then why not just put traktor on auto mix or use a winamp plugin?
People can promo all they want, it's not going to stop me from thinking they are stupid. Just as how I can diss people who promo all they want wont stop you from think I'm stupid.
I'm a pretty sarcastic person, I don't know what you want to deduce from that. |

I actually wouldn't mind seeing a few self promotion done openly, I mean the thread would be clearly labelled, so its really your choice whether you choose to read it or not

Honestly this might contradict my opinion, I actually do think its sad to promote yourself constantly... But if that person feels its worthy, then by all means... Flop it out and see who bites |

imo anomyst is one of the few who actually use the self promo thread and like i said it was good that he did =)
i always use it. i know escee and nath do as well. i dont see any reason why other people shouldnt either. its like saying 'to dave and all the other s who post their in the promo thread, im too good for you.. i get my own thread biatch'

You'll cop jaded sarcasm all the time, guess thats part of being a dj... The way I see it is, the DJ's who have already established themselves (ie. escee, lanithium, etc) get intimidatad by new talent. I think that ITM review really went to his head.. Must be the WA water
I bet they don't realise that when they first started getting gigs, their TL's would've been criticised by their generation of jaded fukcs. Their elite now, these days their TL's have tracks nobody has heard of, and apparently thats COOL

Rez, just to set you straight, im far from established, I barely play out ever. Probably because I don't take part in the scene and pat people on the bum (unless they rightly deserve it). Again, DJing is a hobby not something im aspiring to make a career out of. Which is why your opinion that I'm intimidated by new talent is pretty far off the mark. I'm indifferent to it.
Yes playing tracks people haven't heard of is COOL because it seperates you from what others play. Assuming you actually like it and you aren't just playing it because its on a white label with no writing on. |
