Ever since they left its left a gap in Connecticut recently they made the Bridgeport Sound Tigers and Hartford Wolf Pack in. 2 AHL teams and they are the biggest draws in all of Connecticut. Every game is sold out and its like huge news. I say every state in the North East should have a hockey team. Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont. Smitty would agree everyone watches hockey here.

even a bigger draw than UConn's men and women basketball team? :conf: |

Why on earth would you want to fold Atlanta? As a city built mostly on transplants it remains one of the few vibrant hockey markets south of the Mason Dixon line. With the impending emergence of the Thrashers young stars the team is going to attract fans. |
If you look, I'm fairly certain you'll find that Atlanta has medicore attendance, as does Carolina, Nashville, etc.
And Milan, contraction might not be planned, but we'll have to see how attendance in the US is during this upcoming season. I think limited contraction or relocation of franchises is a real possibility in the next 2 or 3 years. I think the owner of the Hurricanes has already made inquiries about moving to Winnipeg. |

bleh i have no sympathy for American teams who couldnt bring fans in the seats.... the only time they had decent attendance was when everybody knew they were going to leave....its not like Winnipeg who had a decent ammount of fans coming to games an just couldnt compete dollar for dollar against US teams.... also... Im on the boarder on Atlanta...because potentially they have a Stanley Cup winning team in a couple years if they can add some depth... its too bad they didnt play last season because we would have seen if attendance would have been up in Tampa since they have a winning team |

Hartford had good attendance. NHL moved them because they thought that NYC and Boston was taking away the fans if they didnt stay competitve and wanted to market their brand outside of the NorthEast. Trust me Hartford Whalers lol would be a good place for a team but Winnepeg must come first. I used to love them growin up.
Also whats the deal with Bertuzzi u Cunuck(sp)? Is he comin back. I like him:nervous: |

| he's still gotta go to Bettman and plead his case since his suspension was indefinite.... his big fat ass was important to the Canucks but even tho i live in Vancouver, the Canucks arent really a team I would choose to follow if they werent in my paper everyday... we'll suck if loose either Bertuzzi or Naslund in the new NHL |

ooooo
This is my idea for the NHL you will flame the out of me though:
All teams get to designate their 2 most important players(they keep them)
the rest go into a draft pool
have a lottery for the order of the draft. Then all teams pick the players from the pool. Would be interesting, unique and a way to get some outsides in who are intrigued by the idea. |

| lol I would hate that because im a huge Detriot fan and we have Datsyuk, Zetterburg, Fischer, and a bunch of other younger guys that are looking to be huge names over the next few years along with Stevie Y, Shanahan and Lidstrom... It would be great for Carolina fans...assuming they have some somewhere |

I'm so excited the NHL is back, and now I can go watch the Avalanche again.
I am really interested to see where all the players end up now with this new salary cap. Hopefully, the Avs can keep Forsberg and Sakic together! |
