This is not true about Carolina. Raleigh (where Carolina plays their home games) has a fair share of former Canadiens and northerners. There are more northerners (including former Hartford residents) and Canadians in Raleigh than there are natives.
Also, Crosby may bail to Europe since ha can only make $850,000US each year for his first 4 years under the new CBA. he may get drafted, but he could still decide to go to Europe and make a lot more money. |

wow I just remembered another thing about hockey tonight, Gretzky is the coach of the Coyotes :eyes:
also Id probably watch hockey more if they make the rink like they have it in the olympics, games just seem to flow better.Also lets hold it down on the fights , after like 2 or 3 of them I get bored of them quickly. |

I've enjoyed watching or AA ECHL Charlotte Checkers this past year. Those guys are playing for something, and it's not money since the league cap is $500 per week per player. The level of play is not as top-notch as the NHL but the intensity is there.
They actually draw a pretty decent crowd too, especially on the weekend home games.
And I forgot about that deal that Crosby made with Reebok. he is already getting some bank. |

haven't read the entire thread fully, just a few bits, so sorry if it's already been said: bettman and goodnow need to go, they're a bunch of idiots. goodnow agreed to a proposal he said they'd never sign, and bettman, he's just got that nervous tick thing that really pisses me off!
there's rumors here in vancouver that bertuzzi want's to leave town - he says he's upset at the lack of team support. nooooo, big bert's gotta stay! and suposidly, the ducks are looking to buy out sergei's contract and bring naslund and forsberg to town. i hate forsberg, but i can't see naslund leaving - he's almost a god here, he'd never get that anywhere else!

| ben, my man, reebok has made some perdy god damn awesum hockey gear for this season...all nike did was buy baurer (sp?) and put a nike check on it.....easton and esp. ccm dont have enough money to throw at somebody like crosby....also vapor skates are baurer skates from years ago...i almost bought a pair when i played hockey kuz they formed them to your feet in the shop with heat lamps or sumthing so there was no breaking in period....unlike stiff ass graff skates.... if the canucks loose both bertuzzi and naslund they may as well pack it in as our starting line would be morrison centering one of the gay sedin bros. and uhhhh yea... :sadgreen: lol |

If I remember right the Crosby/Reebok deal was worth a couple of million us dollars.
Also, we may not even have national hockey tv coverage in the US since ESPN didn't renew their contract.
As for the rink size, the NHL may not change the actual size, but they may move the nets back a little bit. They also may eliminate the blue line and also goalies are definitely going to be required to wear smaller pads.
I actually blame the players for the loss of the season though. Let me put this in TA terms.
You're a dj. You get paid a decent amount of money for playing. You form a union and demand more money from clubs and/or promoters. The fans aren't willing or can't afford to pay higher door charges. The promoters and clubs don't stay in business because they can't afford to. It'd be like me going with all my coworkers to our CEO and saying "we need a million dollars each." My company wouldn't last much longer or they'd hire people they could pay less. |

My perdiction looks set to come true today at 4PM EST! Crosby to the Rangers Im tellin ya its gonna happen. I hate the Rangers so this isnt a bias thing its just a gut and rumoured thing. Talking to a canadian dude today at a store in NYC and we got into this debate where he should play. Smitty this would've pissed you off. I WAS FOR HIM PLAYING IN MONTREAL OR ANY CANADIAN CITY AND HE WAS FOR THE RANGERS!
Sidney Crosby where o where will he go we will know in 12 hours time!!!
Also the buyouts start Saturday who you thinks gonna get the ax.
From my club the Isles I see Peca or Yashin or both. Rangers probably Holik and some others lol. Devils who knows. Av's think they can keep Sakic and Forsberg? Hope so. |
