Review: Cor Fijneman & Mark Norman at Viva (pg. 3)

Awesome night. Me and Irishaddict (laura) left Rev in waterloo around 1:45am after hearing all of Nuera's hard ass set and some of Dennis Hahn's set. Got to Viva around 3:10am, paid the $30 to get in, and I was just super pumped to see everyone! Got right up in front of the dj booth right away where I first see fahad losin it to the beats, then awishbear running up and giving a hug. Couldnt help but jump in the air because the tunes were fackin awesome! Tordan, Cono-sur, Tatgirl (hilarious idea for a pic!), Fayraree (bringing candy to a club if an awesome idea! I want more! haha), Awishbear (thanks so much for driving me home!), Irishaddict (thank you SO much for doing all that driving around lastnight! I still owe you gas money!), Dj Celica (thanks so much for getting that stuff signed for me!), RobbyG, Trancegrooves, smunky, and maybe missed a few.
It was awesome to just hang out with Mark Norman on the patio and meeting Cor Fijneman at the bar before I left the club, both really down to earth people. On the ride home, Aaron tells me "yeah, when I was standing near the dj booth with mark, he looks over and says "that guy with the green and white glowsticks, he never stops dancing" haha yes! I got noticed lol! If he only came out closer to the floor, he would be saying the same about all of us lastnight! Both of their sets were friggin amazing from what I heard, to bad I didnt get to hear the entire set of both, but still awesome either way. Trying to leave while tygon was spinning was friggin HARD to do! We kept saying "alright, after this song" then we start to go and half the people rush back and start losing it again! Friggin awesome tim!

ok...time for the rest of my review!
got into Viva around 10:30 as i needed to take care of a few things before the club opened. Accompanied by awishabear when we got into the club, apparently the entire police force had decided to show up for a random full out safety check of the place! they even tried to interrogate (sp?) myself and Alicia (lol @ Alicia for acting like a promoter)
so things finally wrapped up and the music started! got kinda worried as the TA turnout towards the beginning didnt seem to powerful! but as the night progressed i saw lots of faces i knew :)
went up to the DJ booth to grab something outta my bag and ran into Norman and Cor. Ended up getting side tracked and talking to them, then i brought them over to the bar to meet everyone!
finally it was time to get Norman up there for his set! but i could tell that something was very wrong! the audio did not sound very powerful at all when the light guy turned it up for Norman! Where was Jayx1 when we need him!! :nervous: after about 15 min and having several people tweak settings and push buttons, things finally sounded a bit better! but still...it wasnt the same without Jay not being there....that guy knows how to work the setup in that booth like you wouldnt believe!
i was very delighted to have Cor spin my Filo & Peri - Closer Now vinyl for everyone! i could see people were loving it!! but LAURA! WHERE WERE YOU??? YOU MISSED IT!! :p
I was talking to Norman after his set and he pointed out how the guy in the white and blue shirt with the lettering and the glow sticks in his hand didnt stop dancing the entire time lol i told him thats our man Dan lol
as usual, the go-go dancers were hotter than ever! :toothless

What a amazing night. Words cant describe the good times i had last night dancing to the tunes hanging out with TAs and chilling with Cor & Norman out on the patio.
I must get some sleep as i just got home from work and like the chump i am i decided to go to work straight after Viva. Full review laterz on. Thank you to everyone for a great night out, And Mr. Norman if as promised you read this review, register ur name and write a line or 2 about your experience here in Tronto for the first time :tongue2
ok time for shrimp fried rice and bed now. I shall sleep till its time to go to Dumonde or till Fahad calls me and wakes me up to go to Nick Warren. lolz * hint hint * |

wow what a great night!
got in aroudn 1.40 and foudn out that guestlist was only open till 1am so that bummed me out a bit, but luckly i had extra money so we got in and norman was spinning some awesome trance. saw aaron and told me that cor was at the bar so i went to say hello. met some more TAs there while shaking hands with him. cor was super nice and its awesome that he interacts with his fans.
went down to the floor again and stayed there for the rest of the night. norman played a wicked set and then cor came on and didnt disappoint. both played some amazing tracks but no one knew the IDs!:whip:
temperature wise it was much better than when airwave was there. there was a fan running sometimes near the front which was nice, and there wasnt any smoke so it was easy to breathe.
tunes of the night for me were castamara and tears from the moon. two totally wicked tracks that made me jump.
great seeing all the TAs there, cono_sur, tordan, tatgirl, awishabear, DJ celica, DJ tygon, flec, fayraree, playa24_7, and whoever i missed sry.
great night and ill definitly will be there next time cor comes to spin at viva. |

Got there aboot midnight left a 5 sharp(friend was passed out in the car)
I enjoyed the musac a lot!
I am glad to have met Tatgirl, tordan and others
There's alot of catching up to do.
The whole night I dancing with you guys.
Towards the end, Natalie showed who everyone as was from the board. I decided not to go around and say hello (ahah the song) as I would of forgotten the names immidiately, I know it. (the previous threads on the subject of forgetting)
So for the future, I pledge surely but slowly aaand ealry enough, that I will.
its 9 pm and my friend wants me to go to Emma's in Burl. Ihopeitsclosed!

first time at a club for me. really enjoyed it. brought along few friends who are also club virgins. went in at 11:30 i believe, got kinda freaked out as i walked in and saw like 25ppl only. :nervous:
it filled fast around 2:00. mark norman crew came on, MUCH better than viva's house Djs. sign of relief as i knew this would be a good night and i wont be blamed for a disapointment by my buds.
that said, since this is my first club experience, here's a Q.
are Viva events usually this good? august 26, matt darey. comparable to july 15 night? |
