Did anyone catch the road block / drive safe program in effect at the plaza's exit when they left? I was like, 'who does sobriety checks at 6am???' I was asked if I'd been drinking (no- besides, bar closed at 2am regardless) & if we were wearing seatbelts, and that was all.
There was some guy at the plaza's entrance whom I had to manouver around, as he had a bit of an accident on his way out. Whooops! Maybe that's what tipped them off to come check on everyone else leaving the place? |

| Nat, I didn't get stopped... I just turned right instead. I was like, "Okay, forget trying to get around these guys haha but I went back the other way and I didn't get stopped then either.. Apparently something happened in the guys' bathroom, and then there was a van out front that needed to be searched... I didn't stick around for details. |

Got there a little after 12 and place wasn't packed at all (as expected at that time), but the beats were bangin'.
Really enjoyed Mark Norman's set. Part way through Cor's set I was REALLY starting to lack energy and just stopped dancing. I think I could've slept standing up. :o His set was also quite good, but something seemed to be off with the sound all night - including too much bass.

Yeah...I noticed that and thought it was REALLY odd for them to be doing checks at that hour. I quickly glanced at the officers, turned on my signal and went right. I didn't get stopped. :D
It was nice meeting for the first time awishabear, Tygon, Irishaddict, DCFreqNasty and Spaniard. It was also nice to meet Mark and Cor. Both are really cool guys!
:tongue3 |

Yeah, at one point during Cor's set the bass was ripping me in half...but I love those moments! LOL awishabear had to cover her eardrums! I love those sick feelings because you don't get such body abuse from the sound at home...;)
And yeah, Nat, the RIDE! I was happy to see them out there keeping our streets safe! ;) The just asked me if I'd been drinking, and after I said no, they asked if I had any last night :conf: not sure of the relevance but again I said "no, I don't drink" and off I was! |

Ok so time for a proper review.
Got to the club around 12, no line up just walked in and was a bit surprised to see only like 50 or so ppl there. Right met up with Aaron and Awishabear and had a few drinks. Then out of the blue Aaron taps me on the shoulder and goes, " Tyler meet Cor Fijneman and Mark Norman " . For a second i thought i was dreaming but then i realized oh i am not.
I have never met such nice and down to earth superstar Djs like these 2 before. And when i say down to earth i mean it. These guys hung out and partied with us like they were one of us and just had am amzing time talking to them and finding out different thing about them and the music they make.
As for the tunes Mark and Cor played well all i gotta say about that is WOW. My fav. tunes for the night were Fred Baker vs Nyram - Confirmation and personally requested tune of the night Conjure One - Tears From the Moon. I danced my ass off and made a fool of meself on the floor to these 2 tunes.
To all the TAs that were in attendence, THANKYOU very much for a great night. You guys rock. Special thanks to Cor & Norman for a great night of music and i can't wait to see you guys back in Toronto already :tongue2 |

mark norman crew came on, MUCH better than viva's house Djs. |
Don't suppose that's why they're signed to Tiesto's label and travel the world to play do ya? :conf:
Viva has some great tallent for residents.. Chiclet and Key can really bring it... you should try coming out to one of our resident nights... I bet you'd have a great time.
Regardless, great night overall... Turn out was decent. I loved hanging out with Cor and Norman... really nice guys. Their sets were fantastic. Top notch trance ALL NIGHT!!!
As always, you TAs are great to hang out with... I love seein you up at the front dancing your ASSES off!!!

WOW!!! This is really overdue, due to technical difficulties but definitely not because I didn’t want to post a review of one of my best nights in Toronto. I’d like to thank all the TA’s for making Friday all the more better. Fayaree, DCFreqNasty (all the way from DC :eyes: ), tatgirl, cono_sur, DJ Celica, Tygon, TranceGrooves, Playa24_7,Tordan and RobbyG. No Doubt in my mind that we rocked the front of that DJ booth to the furthest extent.
Got there around 11:30 with a bunch of friends to hear Chiclet belting out some harder stuff. Around 45 minutes to an hour into the night, I ran into DCFreqNasty who was telling me he had come in from Washington just to see Mark Norman. We continued chatting until I pointed out that Cor/MN had been walking to the V.I.P. area. We quickly tapped them on the shoulders and they were more than gracious enough to take some pics and talk to us. As said before, they are truly class in every aspect of the word and they are definitely professionals in their industry.
Really started dancing around 2:15 when Mark Norman came on. I could notice right away that the bass was aggressive but as bad as it had sounded for Key/Chiclet. It didn’t sound pure and crisp in all honesty but it was enough that you weren’t just dancing to the bass and nothing else. There was a little less harder stuff in MN’s set than I expected like Castamara and Dark Side of the moon. I was expecting stuff like his remix of Love Comes Again or Phantom Manor but I don’t think anyone minded since every TA in the place was going nuts.
Unfortunately, I had a minor headache from around ¾ of MN’s set until the first track of Cor. I got some air in the smoking section which allowed me to talk to some of the TA’s (Tordan, Tygon, RobbieG). Got back in to see Cor ripping everyone apart. This guy was completely brilliant!!! If there is one DJ that is best described as Bangin’, it’s this man. Even if you weren’t feeling his set that much, you can’t help but love how much he enjoys his music, as you can see by his movements in the DJ booth. It just adds to the energy that he brings which is hard to match by most. I think I stayed for 90% of his set, then went out to see Mark Norman chilling with the TrancEaddict crew. Once again, complete class when speaking with us and just so down to earth. Remember taking some pics with the crew shortly after. Good way to remember good times!
I stayed until the end of Cor’s set and then said my goodbyes. Got outside to see a bunch of cops and the cracked out Afghan hotdog man. I don’t know if any of you have seen him before, but he got kicked off my school’s property for not having the right permit (he had a permit, it was just from Moscow LMAO!!). All in all, no complaints and hoping to see the whole crew out for Matt Darey/Filo & Peri.
P.S. I’m not going to go into what I thought about the overall crowd. If you were there, you know what I mean….
P.S.S. I got to give a special props to DCFreqNasty. All the way from DC for a DJ… that’s love!! Really cool talking to you bro, hope to meet up one day in the future either here or there. |
