Sorry, but not only is that a personal opinion, it's a wrong one. In 1999 the new trance formula was just that- new. With classic trance hitting stagnation in the mid 90s, the baton was passed over to more anthemic, melody driven productions. People forget that in 1998, the epic trance sound was genuinely new, and most of the great productions from that era resulted from experimentation.
The problem is that modern trance is now stuck where classic trance was in 1996. It's ran out of ideas and needs another revamp to introduce fresh blood. Since 2001, almost all new trance has been recycling ideas, and the rise of soft-synths and bedroom producers have only increased the process. Trance in 2005 is stuck in a loop, and we need another direction shift to get some more new ground broken.
Listen to any trance compilation from 1998/1999, then contrast it to a new one. It's the same principle idea, but the difference is that the older stuff is being more experimental- it isn't following a formula. The end result is music that sounds like more effort has gone into it. Trance was better in 1999, simply because nobody was following the rule-books. |

Rap records don't deserve to be bought, just look at the videos, the bullshti they spend the money on. YOUR money.
i believe music should be paid for especially from independent producers, since its a work of art, who cares in form of what.
now whether a tiesto album should cost 16$ is very objectionable |

I don't get you're point, a rap single cost as much as a trance one or not?
And why should you even care about how they spend there money? I don't ask what the man does with its money who delivers my post...
And if i knew: what the hell.. its his life! |

:D he is full of crap
to some extent, i think listning to some tracks at home shouldnt be illegal. I mean its impossible to purchase every track ever. That is something rediculas to ask. But obviously If one likes a track they should buy it.
Now if they are using this track in a mix or for a performance, the track should most deffinately be bought.
For example:
I mean I dont think you can expect people To go out and just purchase "Hidden Sound System - I Know/Secilia - As good as you" blindly. But when that same person goes to buy Airwave to play it in a set he should pay for it. Do you expect people to purchase every track? |

When you consider his opinion objectively, trance in 2005 has less artistic merit than in 1999. And "taking away the Universal Nations and Out of the Blues" is really an unfair comparison, because everyone knows you don't tracks that big these days.
Basically, even as a personal opinion, it's built on flawed logic. |

if you tell me a g-unit album is worth 16$ then you are wrong. Music is just like any art, no two same compositions cost the same...
im not buying his album just to put a microscopic piece of diamond on him, whereas i will buy a good trance album from little known producer so he could get better equipment and make more music, therefore helping them make it in the game.
it does make the difference what they do with the money because by buying the album you support that artist instead of downloading his , giving him money to do what hes doing, and if you're broke does that mean u cant get to enjoy someone's music?
there are many angles to this, but i say always buy the album when you can and when you think the artist deserves it |

| Even disregarding your prejudice against hip-hop artists, remember that a good portion of the profit from most hip-hop tracks goes to very old musicans, as it's very hard to find hip-hop that isn't built around at least one sample. |

Is he putting a price to each song & album? No
If you dont think its worth $16 simple dont even download it then. Wouldnt it just be a waste of time if you think its that bad musically?
Also you think anything in music videos is even nearly real? 99% of them are fake & rented stuff just for the video, as most live semi normal lives.
And as much as i hate 50 cent. Who ever does the enginnering for his tracks & production does an amazing job, the quality is the best I have heard in any cd :(:(. Its super clear and the depth is really good as well. |

Thats very subjective, i think you and i won't think it's worth it, but if others do, it is to them.

Fair enough! But still if you like his music whether he is a coke addict or not, has a gold c0ck if he wants or not you pay for the music, not for his personal behaviour IMO. But i agree, it would be more nice to see if he spends it on his musical stuff. And if full time musician had to spend every cent they make on the music again, where should get his money from for other non musical expenses? |
