Apparently, she barely slept. I went back to sleep, and finally woke up again when my alarm clock rang. You guessed it, her cheeks were still wet. Yea, she was sorry alright. I had a meeting in the morning, so i took her with me in the car. She waited for me for two hours in 30-degree heat without AC. In the meantime, she wrote out a couple of pages with her thoughts and the things she would have to change about herself to make herself worthy of getting a second chance, which is pretty much all we talked about until i dropped her off at her place during lunch. In a nutshell, she accepted full responsibility and admitted that she has a problem that will ruin her chances at happiness with me or anyone, until it is dealt with. We identified her problem as low self-esteem, apparently because she was raised in a family where the mother was often abused and cheated on. Her whole image of men, relationships and love is horribly skewed, as is her sense of self-esteem. As a result, she feels she needs to be desired by men in order to feel good about herself, which of course leads to situations like this. She agreed to start working on herself immediately and not stop until she becomes worthy of being my girlfriend, at which point i'll consider taking her back. I gave her a month to show me some serious progress and helped her work out a plan to reprogram her subconscious and redesign her beliefs from the ground up. Basically, it involves her writing out in great detail about the kind of person she really wants to be, and then working on herself until she becomes that person. She has to read the description when she wakes up and think about it during the day, then read it again just before falling asleep and analyze her actions to make sure they're consistent. I taught her to evaluate every thought and action in terms of whether it's moving her to or away from being that person. So that's pretty much it for now. I told her that if in a month, she's as damn close as being a near-perfect girlfriend as a girl can possibly be, i'll take her back. She promised to make it happen, and really sounded sincere. For the time being, we'll continue seeing eachother, even though we're officially not a couple. Of course, she still has to act like an amazing girlfriend this entire time (and every day thereafter) or lose me. I still care about her a lot, and to be honest with you, i really hope she pulls through. |

Dood sorry to hear you were cheated on, I know it sucks...
BUT
its seems as if you have brought it upon youself (others seem to share my opinion..so perhaps you should take this to thought?)
If you tell a woman (in a society where women are brought up to adhere to a model-like image) that you want her to have a perfect body, you are then implying that she does not have one NOW, which make a woman, well, feel like .
She obviously turned to another man because she would like some positive attention in her life, not put downs and control (the drinking issue).
maybe you ought to work on your issues WITH her and take some responsibility for the relationship falling apart. Your conversation that you had with her shows that you focused completely on how she ruined the relationship, but at least several people here can agree that you are part of the problem.
sorry about the cheating. Once again, I would never condone it, but sometimes you have to wonder why someone you love is looking the other way.

Aye, MH. Exactly. It depends on many things is the only answer I can give. I'd be hard-pressed to simply end it cold-turkey if it only happened once (depending on the circumstances surrounding the cheating incident) -- to, over one instance, lose all that you had... but many times... no sorry, then you're displayin a pattern. Don't get me wrong, I can think of many examples where if I'd been cheated on once, I'd not be able to continue seeing the person, but I can't say blindly in absolute terms that cheating even once (no matter the circumstance and case) warrents leaving the person for good.
It's a bad and ugly situation in general, I will say. :confused:

So I'm gonna laugh at your stupid ass right now, in advance. Show her that you care and respect her, and are not in this relationship to satisfy your needs only, and she'll love you back. I'm surprised she's even willing to put up with you being a ing bitchy, ungrateful whiner as it is.
Secondly, I agree with starsearcher here, if she's as hot as people say she is (and she's doing it for you! JESUS), then that was nothing. 90% of guys in your situation would be dealing with her having one night stands. As long as you're getting the exclusive rights to her heart and/or , then I don't see a reason. Grow up and be a man for god's sake. |
