I sincerely believe that cops are less likely to detain a black man in a 3-piece suit than one who's all thugged out and blasting gangsta rap at maximum volume. |
Exactly!
Black or White or Chinese or Indian, you dress the part, expect the results.
If police have a database full of crimes (which I'm sure they do) where 95% of them have descriptions of thug-wear and thug-attitude, guess what?
The cops are going to check the thugs out because they just choose to put themselves in that catagory!
Is this being discriminatory? Absoutely not! They're doing their job based on past experiences.
If thugs are going to roll up and down the street a million times or hang out in a parking all the time like they do, blasting their rap and tryin' to impress everyone guess what? There's going to be questions. Wny the befuddlement??
It's no different than being stopped by the R.I.D.E. program.
Do I drink and drive? No.
Did they have just cause? No, they're going to check anyways because they know there are people out there that do but they don't know unless they check.
I can't fathom why people don't understand the correlation.
It's unfortunate for those in the black community but if one understands why they're doing it, just answer the questions, be cordial and move on.
Nobody likes being stopped by the cops (I know I've been stopped too and feels like ) but just work with them, let them do their job and be done with it.
As for the music end of it, it's ironic how big corporate music marketing pushes bling isn't it?
However, Diginut is right, it's the consumers who should know better and have the power to decide to support what's being marketed.
All I see in that gendre is a vicious cirle of money, thugs, bitches and hardship.
Why do people support this again? :wtf: |

about what? A pakistani making a joke about his own culture or an observation that is 100% true?
If a white guy had said what the black councilman had said then he would have been forced to resign over allegations of racism. You know it and I know it. |
lol...I thought you were the hater of double standards...I figured you'd be dismayed to see him use the word "paki" since if anyone else used it, it would be deemed racist ;) |

there are plenty good role models out there, i agree that society has turned bieng a "thug" into something good. even the white kids want to be thugs. |

| quote: | Toronto police chief rejects random searches
CBC News
Toronto police chief Bill Blair has said no to a controversial idea to curb gun violence in his city.
It would allow police to randomly stop young black men. Blair called the proposal "inappropriate."
He said it would be unfortunate to subject thousands of law-abiding young black people to discriminatory treatment based on the actions of a relatively small number of criminals.
A city councillor, who is black, suggested the random searches this week.
Meanwhile, another man was gunned down in Toronto Tuesday evening. He was the city's 45th murder victim - the 31st by gunfire.
Reports say the unidentified man in his 20's ran for his life before being shot in a residential neighbourhood.
No arrests have been made. |

At times like these people are too quick to point the finger at a specific group... before we know it, all this racial profiling turns Toronto into a racial melting pot and we as Canadians are better than that.
Granted most of the violence has involved people of ethnic origin, but that isn't necessarily why it's happening. Most people of ethinic origin contribute to this country and are model citizens.. it's not fair to pigeonhole the vast majority because of a few bad apples.
This isn't an issue that the black community alone has to figure out, this is an issue for us all to deal with
These crimes aren't happening because people are black. Their happening because we don't have enough cops on the street, because our sentencing for indictable offenses is a joke and because our border is a siv that allows in American guns and terrorists in.
Before we sit back and tell the black community to "figure it out for themselves" let's look at the possibilities of:
- tightening our border and pressuring the U.S for stiffer gun control
- putting more cops on the street for a gang task force- waging war on gang violence
- stricter deportation for people that do cause trouble
- tougher sentences for violent crimes
Instead of looking for the easist way to point the blame let's look at the whole picture here. Otherwise this country will end up just like others around the world; torn by racism. |
