23, still live w/ the parental units and i'm loving it..
why? i'm going to grad school full time in january and i work part to full time in the meanwhile... free rent, free breakfast/lunch/dinner every single day (ready made!!!), free gas, no car insurance, free grad school, no curfew, money when i need it (the job takes care of everything i need tho tho), and most of all, i put my clothes in the hamper and they magically return clean and folded on my bed the next day! how the does that happen?! :p just kidding.. my parents and i have mutual respect for each other. i keep cool under their house and they love having their 'baby' live with them.
basically, my parents have a great philosophy: we'll teach you everything you need to know about life from doing laundry to paying taxes but why move out on your own if you have your entire life to pay bills?
...and i agree with them.
when will i go? when i get my masters and finally get my teaching career on the road and feel comfortable knowing that i will be paying at least $1500 in this area for a decent 1 bedroom apartment... |

Nope.
Moved out when I was 17.
Now 19.
Living on my own has its ups and downs. I don't regret moving out so early, however, I wish that I had the luxuries of "being taken care of" if you will.
Those of you who still live at home, I suggest you thank your parents a million times over again for giving you such a good place to stay. You have it made! Some of us aren't so lucky. |

i will be fully moved out next year.
i had been studying in germany for a year, then when i finished august 2004 i moved home to finish up my last class for my Bachelors. in febuary this year i moved out to australia so be with my b/f who i met in germany. i return home in december for a few months then i will move back to australia so that my b/f and i can go to the next level in our relationship, so i guess i will be moved out fully by then.
when i lived at home i had been doing my laundry and my own cooking (except sundays) since i was a teenager so i never really had the full benefits as others here have :(. but i had free rent so that is what counts. paying rent really sucks.... |

Why are you staying at home then when you can live on your own for the exact same thing? |
