The problem is that most companies (including the 5 big Canadian banks) and the top multinationals of the world still have that old-school, old boys club at the top. If it were up to the nepotistic principles of previous generations then frathouse and men's smoking club members would all get the top spots (not because of merit, but because of who you know).
So ONE aggressive alternative is to actively promote those minorities that weren't raised with a silver spoon. Unfortunately, white people that weren't raised with a silver spoon are the victims, and that's probably the majority of white people, but this is still a SMALL and VISIBLE step in getting rid of the status quo.
Haha let me refute that on my own...the minorities that rise to the top in these situations DID attend the same private schools and frathouses, and got to the top because of who they know AND because they're minorities. Oh well--thank you, come again! :p

Move back home then and leave canada for the aboriginals, you Twat! Actions like this are there to create an economic base for certain members of this nation that are disadvantaged due to colonialism.
That someone can not apply for a job in the present day is pale in comparison to the days when aboriginals could not leave thier reservations without the permission of the indian agent ( 1940s). Many of us were stuck on reserve with no economic base but were not allowed to leave to look for work.
Then when some resources were found on our land we were moved further north to even worse land to help the colonials develop.
Lets get everyone up to the same level first then we can start chatting about this stuff.

It's sad what happened t natives in the past. So why not equally educate everyone and put them on a level playing field?

I didint mistreat anyone ethier but...my people still suffer from the impact of colonialsim.
Also informal networks are a significant source of employment for much of this country. If certain groups have high levels of unemployment than they are at a disadvantage due to a lack of social networks.
These programmes are not there to disadvantage white people but rather to make the playing field level.
At the end of the day many of those minority groups have less informal networks than non minorities.
Thus programmes like these seek to rectify this.
It does not matter much anyways the jobs they alot for minorities are usually entry level crap jobs with no opportunties for upward advancement anyways.
If you still look at most of the CEOS and high level managers in this nation it is still dominated by white men. So dont worry there amigo your demographic wont be falling on hard times anytime soon.

You may have some valid points here... but is discrimination the way to end discrimination? And most jobs for EVERYBODY these days are entry level jobs. Thats where it all starts. And the nation is still dominated by white people because last time i checked, they still made up most of the population. Yes its time to see some more representation from others (if they have earned it of course) but dont ever expect a "takeover" unless the population warrents it.
