Hehehehe... No matter what situation we were in, I'm quite sure Myra could handle it... she's the sensible one!

Edit: And oh yeah... on top of that, if we WERE with strippers, I'd probably be a little freaked out to begin with... odds are if I'm hanging out with a stripper the day after, it was one hell of a cracky night...

I used to get panic attacks to the point I would pass out. I used meditation to eventally learned to understand my mind, my self and my physical being. This takes time. (Still got lots more work on this but I am at least past the first or second stage)

Medications are neccesary for many people, however most people on them shouldn't be at least long term. (I.E, greater than 9 months) I was on a long list of different meds, the more the doctors tried to help me the more things got worse. Eventually they found a drug that made me level. Without depressions or major anxiety. No peaks no lows. I went for half a year of this indifference. Couldn't stand it, so I got off it against doctors recomdations.

I also found this book called The way of the peaceful Warrior By Dan Millman. Rob you should check this out, an amazing book.

I also find its good to remember that anger is stronger than fear.

Sounds messed up but try it. Whenever my emotions begin to own me I anger to take to gain power over them. This is completly internal and not external and while being at a moderate level of peace. You have to catch it quick before it goes over the top, because then it takes a whole lot of strength to take control again. Still possible though.

Thanks Tony...

I'm feeling better now, just chillin' at home watching the Daily Show, CORe whoring it up...

Though, I gotta admit... a friend stopped by with a "gift" a little while ago... that's been helping tremendously...

i don't know if anyone wrote it yet, but ummm DON'T DO DRUGS! i mean seriously...drugs are fun, but if you suffer from any sort of anxiety disorder, that is like the worst thing you can do. especially self medicating with pot...eventually pot has an adverse effect and it'll start to trigger anxiety, rather than get rid of it.

i went through the same thing back in 2001 and i was constantly stoned off my ass, just avoiding life and all my problems. one day i woke up, smoked a j, and went to the dry cleaners to pick up some clothes, and as i was waiting for them, this wave of sheer panic came over me for absolutely no reason at all. i literally couldn't see right in front of me because i was having that "white out" effect with my eyes...everything was white and i could have sworn i was going to hit the ground and faint. i went dashing out of the doors into the fresh air and somehow made it to my car where i dry heaved a few times and then broke out into a cold sweat. it was the most horrifying experience...i really think the weed triggered it, along with all the stress i had been avoiding.

quit smoking weed, quit popping rolls/doing coke...seriously. it will cut your attacks by more than half, i promise you. it will suck at first, but once you are totally clean, you will feel like a different person.

I've been getting them since I was 15, and not all the time, they come and go. I've tried to see someone about them more than once but it seems like everyone just wants to put me on some sort of crazy anti-depressant (a la Paroxotine a.k.a. Paxil) that is just supposed to "level" me out, when in reality I just get exceptionally anxious and freaked out (And I mean FREAKED out, like out of control of my thoughts and too terrified & anxious to even leave my apartment) for somewhat short periods of time, and then return to normal patterns of thought...

Smoking a lot of pot seems to help sometimes, but certainly doesn't always work, sometimes my mind gets racing so fast that anything inhibiting it from functioning just makes crazier and crazier thoughts develop in my mind... & they don't necessarily stick around, usually I can get myself back in a condition to say "OK, chill out kid... things are going to be OK" in a little while...

In any event, I guess the standard response is that this is just normal and everyone goes through it, so if everyone does, how do you kids deal with it?

Edit: For the record, I don't consider myself a "depressed" kid at all...

Anxiety.. you'd be suprised how many people actually get it. There are ads on TV here in Australia trying to raise awarness of 'mental diseases' (which is such a crude term, I must say), saying that 1 in 5 people have one.

I've personally never had any symptoms of depression and anxiety but my best mate of 13 years has just conquered severe cases of both. I can fully understand and empathise with your situation mate, I've seen what these epsiodes can do to a person. I've read all of your posts thus far and word-for-word I've lived them through my mate.

Firstly, you shouldnt be embarrased about openly talking about your problem.. anyone who gives you stick can personally lick the salty jockitch off my left nut. Anxiety is merely a chemical imbalance in the brain, often triggered by trivial events. Give a weak form of anti-depressant some thought. Dont go too hard and too fast with anti-depressants as side effects from the WRONG kind of drug can be a bit of a problem. If you go on a low dose, you will be fine and you'll eventually find something that will knock this out of your life.

Secondly, the way you treat your body is of UTMOST importance. This means absolutely zero pot. As people have already stated this is often the cause of anxiety, and I'll put my money on it as well (even though it occasionally seems to help you). Also, get on a diet. Not necessarily to lose weight, but to stay healthy. Cut out the fast food , or at least keep it to a minimal.. often the preservatives and additives in food can do some wicked work on the chemically imbalanced brain. Perhaps even find out if you have Coeliac's Disease, as it has been known to be related closely with anxiety..

Make sure you do something about this buddy.. it really isnt worth living your life with this just for the sake of keeping up a reputation or just because of society's ignorance towards the disease. Take a hit on the chin and get something done.. I guarentee you wont regret it.
