Unleaded in Detroit,MI is going for about $3.30/gallon. My girlfriend just told me there is a gas shortage and wants to cancel our trip to Labour of Love in Toronto. Where are the best Army engineer corps our military has? Oh yeah, I remember now. All of us up here in the midwest may be a long way away. But, we all loved New Orleans, and we are all praying for you guys. I know most of you are probably not from the immediately effected areas, but I just wanted to let you all know that we are praying for the entire region. Gas prices are really one of the least worrisome issues.

I am a supporter of the hybrid/alternative fuel revolution though. I really think that if more people had enbraced that years ago, the country would be a lot better off.

My rant on Sonny Perdue's plan for gas...

[rant]

can we get a little recognition for the governor Sonny Perdue economic plan? So gas tends to become nonexistent in Georgia due to pipelines breaking that brought gasoline to Georgia from New Orleans because of Katrina. Sonny Perdue notices that prices of gas go up to as much as $5.70 a gallon for regular, unleaded gasoline at certain stations. What does he do? He puts a cap on the amount individual stations can charge comparable to what they pay the wholesaler. If that wasn't enough, he then proceeds to remove the sales tax on gas which will supposedly bring the total cost down about 15 cents a gallon in a palpable attempt at vote buying. Because it makes so much sense to lower the price of a product that is highly in demand yet the resources are scarce. A product that is entirely vital to a city that is the major artery of the south east. It wouldn't be too major a problem if no one in the city was able to report to their respective jobs just because Sonny's trying to maintain a Republican-controlled government.

"citizens of Georgia: not only will I make it impossible for you to get to work for your vote... I may even suck your with a helmet on intended for those who are mentally challenged."

that, my friends, is the process of government.

[/rant]

it felt good to let that out.

I'm simply stating that at this current point in time it's stupid to lower prices on an item that is in high demand yet therer is little supply.

If there were actions that could have been taken to prevent such a shortage (which I doubt there were) that he knew about yet did not act upon, then I would hold him severely accountable. At this point I'm ignorant to that fact.

All I'm saying is he doesn't understand basic economic principle.
