Lately I've been ditching the small talk and getting right to the point - I don't have time for chit chat. They are learning and are getting to the point immediately. ;) |

Nothing is worse than asking coworkers or strangers how they are and they go into some life story about how they popped their knee cap and needed surgery or how their dog died because of whatever reason.
If your upset about something, im sure we all have our inner circle of friends we can talk to about our problems. No matter what, whenever someone asks me how im doing, i always respond "good thanks, yourself?"
Asking someone how they are doesnt necessarily mean you care how they are, you are just being polite. |

me: (standard default answer) fine.
no matter what really happened.. sometimes it's easier to put the "happy mask" on than talk about what's been bugging you..
also it's generally someone who you may not wish to confide the whole story to who is asking the question.. it's always easier to rant to a good friend who you can be totally up-front with knowing they aren't going to take action, rather than getting a lecture on how to deal with negative events without letting them affect you. |
