When it comes to naming favorites like that, I always take into account originality and popularity besides my personal taste. Unfortunately Flight 643, my top choice, didn't make it into the finals and neither did 10 in 01 which would be my second best from the original list.
The list we all have to choose from is pretty obscure I must say. For example, Tiesto's remix of Jan Johnston's Flesh is far superior to his Innocente one (and he seems to prefer it in his sets). Rapture, while easily one of 2001's best tracks, is as trance-y as the Dave Matthews Band's The Space Between (as far as the general public is concerned). Souvenir De Chine is only original in its unintentional OldSkoolism (and I have to mention - that's why I edited the post - that Members of Mayday's 10 in 01 would be a far more obvious choice, in that sense). And would either Dumonde or Lange vote for Memory as the year's best track?
I could go on explaining why I excluded each one of the rest of the tracks but it would only serve to bore everyone to death. I ended up voting for Urban Train, although I'm almost sure it wouldn't top even Tiesto's list for the year :rolleyes:

my 2nd place vote goes to: Urban Train
those are 2 of the best trance tracks this year!!!!! IMO :)

| I picked Urban "fly away" Train. listening to Tiesto's Dancevalley set clinched it for me, it sounds so damn sweet live. |

i voted for iio - rapture... cause that was the only track track that stayed on my mp3 player for like a month at #1 spot, and it's just sooo moving :)
i thought nu-nrg - dreamland and urban train should get some props...

just how many livesets has rapture been in this year? i think that all dj have embraced it, sure it's a little overpayed by now, but it's still good...

| wether it's rapture , dreamland or urban train who makes it , then it doesn't bother me at all , those 3 tracks are awesome |

I like to think of it representing all mixes :p At the end of the day, Rapture's been keeping me dancing and smiling for half a year now. Good point though, wasn't there different mixes to choose from in the heats? Which one won?
Anyway, Innocente wasn't originally Trance. Though to be honest I wouldn't even call Tiesto's remix music.
