I hate hip hop but banning it is complete BS. Its no better nor worse than when they tried to ban raves (and mostly succeeded).
This time though im just waiting for the useless "racism" cries from the usual peanut gallery.
Politicians are such idiots. |

so hiphop doesn't portray violence, sex, and thugz, have you watched some of the videos, or listened to some of the lyrics, in such environment such music arouses such a vibe, which creates gansta wanna bees who shoot someone for no reason, other then to show off.
mostly they just shoot each other off (gansta wanna be wankers) but unfortunately it's tragic when a bi-stander gets hurt
I could care less if they ban hip hop nights, means more opportunites for better themed nights |

especially the white suburban kids "GUNIT" groupie s!! |
I hate gangsta's and the whole thug thing as much as anyone here, but it's not because of music that these shootings are occurring right now. The people doing this are into gangs and drugs. Yes kids want to portray an image, but not many are willing to kill someone over it. When the mafia was in the full spotlight what music was making them kill people, mostly eachother, like today's gangsters. |

oh noooo nada!
so let me get this straight if tommorow the govt decides HEY the whole rave scene is bad cause they are promoting ecstasy and other drugs let just ban electronica right?
The govt cannot and i dont think its possible to control our entertainment privliges and nowdays with the internet its near to impossible for them to.
that was just a generalisation, being unorginal has nothing to do with the music at all, i think its just the way they potray themselves on tv has influence on kids, if hip hop artists made a effort to sell a postive image i'm sure they wouldnt be all these gun tigger happy kids.
i agree its bad, but dont stop the music cause people cant control themselves. |

You have it all wrong....you can still play the music just not a club venues. The rave scene was shut down for a long time because of the drug use.....in reality....the true rave scene is gone but has been moved into the clubs.
I have absolutely no problem with banning hip hop nights at clubs. That is not to say there can't be any hip hop music. I use to go to Club 54 in Burlington all the time. They played latin, euro, house, and hip hop every saturday. If you want to have an hour of hip hop music thrown into the mix during the night then I don't see a problem with that. There was never any problems at Club 54.
The problem starts when the whole night is Hip Hop because the wanna be gangsters decide to come out of the wood works for that night and then the trouble starts. You add lots of alcohol, university aged guys trying to get laid, and music that is associated with violent and you have a time bomb waiting to happen.
A greater part of the problem is just the age of people that are at these events however, the music does not help the situation at all. I was in university once and I know many guys who's only goal was to either get laid or get drunk. If the couldn't get laid they would get so drunk and stupid that you knew a fight was going to break out. The EDM scene is not a university type scene and people don't go to those clubs with the same attitude. Most people don't go to the Guv and think to themselves they are going to pick up some hot chick. There are those that do...and those are the ones that also go to the Top 40 and Hip Hop clubs. |

| so against this. not only for the "slippery slope reason" or the fact that its a band-aid solution, but to think that banning hiphop nights is going to make your city safer is ridiculous. they are still going to congregate; just now instead of getting searched by doormen and regulate by bouncers and the cops that hang around the clubs..they're going to hang out anywhere. will gun violence stop? hell no..i'd bet it'd get worse |

^^ I agree with you. No one can deny that alot more fights and stupid stuff happens at clubs with rap music playing. Some people go there just to get into a fight! Add in mass amounts of booze and people trying to act tough, then watch out! Even here in kitchener, last weekend, at revolution nightclub. My friend was talking to his gf, she was telling him a story about something, then my friend couldnt believe what happend in the story and said "are you in kidding me!??". Next thing he knows, hes got 5 guys following him and his gf outside saying "what did you say about me inside??! You were in saying something about me!" his gf was like "he was actually talking to me, we were talking, it was directed at you", then the guys like "yeah well, he should be talking ". like WTF!???? :conf: :conf: :conf: |
