"The Client" by John Grisham |
I'm embarrased to say I've read this book. Cheesey, entertaining, pop garbage. I guess it is what it is.
"You Can't Go Home Again" Thomas Wolfe
His command of the English language is breathtaking. Wolfe is truly one of our great American writers. Needed to be edited (700 pages) got lost in the middle.
"Cry, The Beloved Country" Alan Paton
A memorable novel that takes place in South Africa. Full of sadness with glimpses of hope. I was shocked to discover how long ago it was written. Feels like it could have taken place today.
"Death in Holy Orders" P.D. James
Picked this up at a tag sale as my light read for the summer. To my surprise it wasn't one of those cheap thriller/mysteries. Boy can she write! |

not really big into reading, but i enjoy reading alot about the history of the dance music scene. its always such an inspiration reading about how the parties were always sooooo small, and how djs that most of us regard as icons/heros started doing the little raves for free. hahaha soo funny
check out
"The Death of Wizdem" by Les Borsai
little interesting fact on les, totally, and completely by coincidence...my girlfriend moved into her new apt (a few months ago) and he is her neighbor. he is responsible for starting the dance music scene in LA, and the book talks about it. not sure when it comes out...but i've already read parts of it and its ing awesome.
i also want to read Generation Extacy...forget the author though :(
but yeah
Les Borsai "The Death of Wizdem" good stuff |

2001: A space odessey by arthur Clarke is definatly one of my fav's
but Kurt Vonnegut books blow me away. I just ordered the Breakfast of Champions and Sirens of Titan. Amongst other books that i've enjoyed are Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury, Animal Farm by george Orwell, One Word Many Cultures, Slaughterhouse Five by Kurt Vonnegut, War and Peace Leo Tolstoy, Ursula K. Le Guin's Earthsea series kicked ass. |

Just finished Monaldi & Sorti - Secretum, about complot theories around the election of a new pope around 1700 and the installation of a new king for the Spanish empire at the same time. A very entertaining and interesting story, even more so since it's based on true facts (explained and accompanied by various references at the end of the book). Definite recommendation if you're into historical thrillers. Well, it's not really a thriller but I've seen The Da Vinci Code mentioned a thriller, if so then this one deserves the same title. It doesn't read as 'easy' as The Da Vinci Code though, but I think it's by far superior.
Time to get their first novel, Imprimatur. From what I've heard, it should be equally interesting. |

"Shogun" by James Clavelle
What a cool book. 'Tis about the first Englishman to land on Japanese shores in the late 1500's, and the adventures of he, his men, and the powerful Japanese feurdal lords of the time. Love, intrigue, drama, heartbreak, BETRAYAL, ACTION! Plus there are almost too many plots and plot twists to keep track of. Historical fiction though. Hahah.
"Silmarillion" by J.R.R. Tolkien
Epic writing and epic stories. Almost too epic for your pants.
"Altered State" by Matthew Collin
Is it written well? Who cares? Too much interesting information for someone like me.
"Wheel Of Time" by Robert Jordan
Sure it's very long and drawn out and the writing might not exactly be top notch, but I like a series that I won't finish in under a month. It's still interesting, even by book nine...really....seriously....I swear....it is... |
