Two books I've read years ago that still remain fresh in my mind:
House of Leaves by Mark Danielewski
Lolita by Vladimir Nabokov |

I'm embarrased to say I've read this book. Cheesey, entertaining, pop garbage. I guess it is what it is.
"You Can't Go Home Again" Thomas Wolfe
His command of the English language is breathtaking. Wolfe is truly one of our great American writers. Needed to be edited (700 pages) got lost in the middle.
"Cry, The Beloved Country" Alan Paton
A memorable novel that takes place in South Africa. Full of sadness with glimpses of hope. I was shocked to discover how long ago it was written. Feels like it could have taken place today.
"Death in Holy Orders" P.D. James
Picked this up at a tag sale as my light read for the summer. To my surprise it wasn't one of those cheap thriller/mysteries. Boy can she write! |

Yeah well. That is my favorite cover! I mean he was a pedophile and liked "nympthettes" I remember wearing those shoes and white, lacy socks as a little girl. In my mind, his nympthette was about 8 or 9. That book cover just captures everything perfectly! Even the stance!
Yeah I know, you didn't like it. Go back to reading Oprah's new Faulkner series :D |

always been big into fantasy:
Terry Brooks (Shannara series)
Robert Jordan (Wheel of Time series)
David Eddings (Belgariad/Mallorean series, Elenium/Tamuli series)
Terry Goodkind (Sword of Truth series)
usually prefer at least a trilogy, the more the better though because the author can get into so much detail creating worlds and characters it's amazing. That Wheel of Time series is on book 10, not sure when it's gonna stop. |
