i'm speaking from a purely physical aspect... boys that look pretty or feminine just aren't sexy to me.
personally i find myself more deeply attracted to someone because of their personality rather than who they appear to be on the outside. i can't judge someone based on looks alone, i have to know someone to truly be attracted to them.
i agree both are important. i need to be physically and emotionally attracted to the person i'm with. but i don't go by what society tells me... it's all about feeling out the situation and seeing who you connect with on all levels. i don't go into the world with an attitude of "ok here is the checklist for the Perfect Man, let's see if i can find him today" because i can't create a mold in my head and then expect to find someone who fits it perfectly. there are so many factors that come in to play when you decide to be with someone... i can't even put it into words right now but it's so much more than mental and physical.
your theory would suggest that true love isn't all that important, that people are just looking for the best way to reproduce and spread their genes. if that's all i was looking for, i would consider it a waste of time. being in love is the only attraction i need. |

well love is a word used to describe what exactly? "chemistry" as it is called is simply attraction at its deepest level.
you are socially programmed, if we were in person right now i could prove it. we all are its nothing to be mad or debative about. infact your ideal to rebel (if you do feel one) is very dangerous to your own pyschi.
if you think of it in terms of evolution, your ideals to conform to normalities are because you have a better chance of survival to walk in stride with the group than go on your own.
i firmly agree with your first statement on personality. i made a point of that in a post regarding Caela.
what you are unclear about is your own feeling for attraction. you can't help your feelings for attraction nor can you help if you don't feel attracted. what i'm saying is that attraction is based on the quality of the genes. your feelings of attraction are brought by evolutionary process' to procreate with the best available gene's. you are not past that, no one is. does that make more sense? |
