i dont like to get involved in arguments or instigate them but its upsetting to see a site that when i signed up had a vast majority of the threads informing ppl about whats happening in the trance community has turned into a forum where ppl make retarded threads like who do you think is the biggest post whore .. even a thread like this where some dude just requested tiesto that tiesto come back turns into nonsensical bull |
u just have to suck it up and DEAL or you keep going in a never ending circle!! Tiesto is MY FAVE dj and i dont give a if ppl hate him his hair his teeth his ass whatever they can DEAL with it just like i deal with their BS!

um...no. you missed the point.
it's only in the past year or two that "trance" has really entered the mainstream. Top 40 stations here were NOT playing anything even resembling trance. Some really bad euro, sure. None of those DJs listed were ever asked to DJ the Olympic Games either.
my point is that because "trance" has become increasingly popular, any DJ who now is "#1" will likely be subject to the criticisms that Tiesto is facing right now.
If you don't think that some people dislike him for the very fact that he is popular, you're terribly naive. There are quite a few people on here who call Armin and PVD "cheese", for example...and who think Oakenfold is a pale shadown of what he once was. |

^^^ not in North America, it hasn't...and before you say "North America isn't the world", it IS a very influential and lucrative market.
and trance it's become FAR more mainstream in the last several years elsewhere in the world too. Again, I'll point to Tiesto's very high profile duties at th Olympics. That would *never* have happened 10 years ago.

this thread was not about Tiesto being "better" than anyone...it was about that he deserves some of the recognition he's received.
anyone who won't agree that he's advanced the genre is full of ...maybe he didn't advance it in a direction they cared for, but that's not the point at all. |
