Nice, you completely missed the point.

This isn't some dimwitted argument about definitions or genre classifications. If you go to the store and buy a "chocolate bar" and find out when you start eating it that it's actually just frozen turd on a stick, you'd probably be pissed off.

It adds insult to injury if there are 50,000 other people out there who have never tasted real chocolate before and actually pay for this turd on a stick and believe that this turd on a stick is a chocolate bar. But irrespective of that issue, the fact remains that:
1) It's still turd on a stick; and
2) It's lame to call it chocolate.

I hate arguing by analogy but it seemed like the only way to get my point across, since it appears that how people read into my statements is coloured by their irrational love of this musical turd-on-a-stick. Once again, this is not about genre classifications, it's about exploitation of something which I used to like with a second-rate imitation of it.

No, I wouldn't be pissed off, because apparently, I like turd-on-a-stick. It tastes great to me. I would be pissed off if I bought chocolate bar, thinking it would be the turd-on-a-stick that I love, and instead got a chocolate bar.

It's all about preferences. It may very well be a cheap exploitation of Trance, but I like it. I really don't care what it's an imitation of, or how it came to be, or how much better it was back then. Any other negative quality you attach to it still won't change the fact that I (and many other people, although I'm not bringing that up here as justification of why I like it) like the sound of it. That's it. You could type out a 3-page essay why Not-Trance is crap, and it wouldn't matter at all to me, because until I get sick of it, I don't care what other people have to say about it.

then hes a smart mother ****** to become #1 in the world and make far more money than all the other djs with so little talent ...

some ppl in this forum are just retarded and dont seem to understand the lines "if you dont like his music dont go see him and if you see a thread about him dont open it" ... u guys would be lying to yourselves if you think most if not all of the djs you follow wouldnt suck dick to reach where tiesto is today ... tiesto isnt in the BUSINESS for the opinion of a few ppl on tranceaddict else it would make him charity

in football ppl hate chelsea cuz they have to much money
in tennis ppl hate federer cuz hes to good

at the end of the day, majority of the ppl like to follow those who are at the top of their game because their success makes them happy whereas the mediocre levels of acheivement of everyone else leaves their fans and followers in a fit of jealousy that their boy ed up again and come up with stupid terms like jump on the bandwagon which is so obvious in this case...

and if tiesto really does lack talent why havent the others reached the level he has???

i like carl cox, and i dont give a if he's #1 or #10000

he's good either way and i dont need everyone else to tell me that in some stupid pissing contest dj poll.

As much as I don't like the style of music tiesto spins I will give him credit for trying something new...even though I hate it. The only time I enjoy any Tiesto is while driving. Tiesto is a commercial DJ and I don't think anyone can dispute that. Tiesto is not an old school DJ like Sasha, Cox or Digweed and he has decided to think out of the box....and all the power to him. If it wasn't for DJs trying something new then we wouldn't have the variety of EDM that we have today. Personally I wish he wouldn't do the Tiesto in Concert things but he is helping bring the music to a group of people who didn't know about it. I am sure there are many people here who first got introduced to EDM through Tiesto and then started going to see other DJs and found out they liked the sounds of other DJs and realized they liked that better then tiesto. My first introduction to EDM was Oakenfold.....about 10 years ago and I thought he was the greatest thing since sliced bread....now he wouldn't make my top 10.
