my loss of clubbing ..what happened to me?

I really don't know exactly what could have contributed to it, but over the past 3 months or so, I've just not had the urge to go clubbing that much as I used to. I went to some big events, such as Labour of Love, and Above&Beyond, etc.. but I haven't felt like going to the smaller clubs like boa (although now closed), systemS, or Phoenix (yes, I like rock and retro too).

I was thinking it might be contributed to the fact that my involvement into DJing has removed the novelty of clubbing, since I know where and how DJs work with and acquire music. Otherwise, I feel somewhat lost and slightly in fear of losing my love for the club scene that I did love before. Or maybe I'm just being too dramatic about it.

I still love to produce house/trance/prog music, and I still love to spin it. so what could it be?

Has any1 else gone thru such a thing b4? what cures are available? (aside from listenning to country or rap or top40 until my ears bleed?)

Well there comes a point in life when you might need a change or small break from everything the whole scene because it might be turning into a routine... I know I have to cool off from time to time...

:( I know things have been busy for you too, though...

And you've got other things on your mind like actually producing tracks that keep you from heading out.

And, well, I guess I could be included on keeping you from heading out, too -- but hopefully just not as much, and very low on the list of things keeping you from enjoying clubbing. ;)

I've mentioned it before, but as a newbie to clubbing I probably wouldn't be the best to suggest it, but take a break. Try something new. Suitemates were talking about going to a Latin club for a change. And to show off, but that's Schulich'ers for you!! :stongue:

Completely agreed.

I'm going through the same thing now, though replace DJing with Production. Even though I didn't go all that often the excitement of it all isn't as much there right now. I've been dealing with lots of outside stresses and it never helps, but it's especially difficult when the woman in your life as well as your closest friends are out for what seems to be days without surfacing.

I'll get my form back soon enough, but in the last couple weeks in particular it's been dissapointing.

Andy Moor and the Boa ReOpening will change my pace soon. Whoo. :)

Aren, DO NOT think about it too much or overanalyze...just go with the flow. Period. I felt as you once did...CHANGE is good...try different things...then go back to your "roots" and then change again...it's sweet. Also, ONLY party (EDM events) every so often...the more you consistently do the same "clubs" or the same "events" the more boring it can get...imo.

I think everyone gets a little tired of whatever they do untill one big thing hits you and brings you back into it. This year it was A&B at the Guv, last time i was "hit" before was Rank one back in NOV 04.

Chill n enjoy other things, its not essential to come out or anything like that

agreed, the other thing is maybe your just growing out of it , honestly i dont see any reason why i should go partying until i have the dough, i like variety as well and i listen to other stuff, just listening to EDM is BS.

I'll tell you this Aren - the more I get into producing, the more I analyze the tracks I listen to and the harder it is for me to just enjoy them at face value. So every now and then I have to take a break from that in order to put things into perspective.

I think a lot of people have slowed down on their clubbing recently though, particularly the ones who party sober. There's just something lacking from the vibe at most parties... IMO there's just too many people who are either ed up or worshipping the DJ, and not enough people dancing or enjoying the music.

I have, but due to my body and mind just needing a slight break (just to refresh myself), my legs (shin splints) needing time to heal properly so they wont become issues again.. and $$$ - i cant believe how much money i spent on cover, bus tickets, food and alcohol while being in TO! :( :( :(

Also, the stress/annoyance of bussing it to TO there back back week in and week out (well, almost) just wears on a peron.

I figured w/ the end of summer and the commencement of fall, it was a good time to step out for a month and a bit.

Im back come next weekend though! Guv 9 Year, Ferry and Coxxy... weeeeeeeeeeeeeee ;)
