Cosmic Fur
O-M-F-G. What an amaaazing, insane night.

Got in about 10:30, and started with the Kool Haus and Marc Oliver. To tell the truth, he dissapointed me. I was expecting a much more energetic set from him. Meh.

So by the time it was 12:00, I was all set for the Breaks that K-Swing would be dropping in the Orange Room. Daaaaym, her set was definitely kicking my ass and my legs. Yummy, delicious bass ... Mmmm....

From there on it was Uberzone. His performance (and I mean that literally since he was doing the beats live) was just jaw dropping. Not only because of the skill required to do that so flawlessly, but also because the music blasting from the speakers was out of this world. Speaking of flaws, I, for one, wasn't dissapointed one bit that his set was interrupted due to technical difficulties. People were booing, but I was just glad to stop and catch my breath for a minute or two.

Since Uberzone and K-Swing left my legs in critical condition, I decided to go check out Timo Maas in the hopes that he'll be playing something nice and Trancey so that I can recover in time for Cox. No such luck. He was laying down some wickid housey/techno beats. HE ING DROPPED SWITCH - A BIT PATCHY!!!! OMFG, I'm in love with that tune ever since it was dropped at System last Friday - "Bandalei, Bandalei, Bandalei" - this is stuck in my head now. Jesus his set was amazing. But 3:30 came, and it was time for Carl Cox.

The first thing that hit me when we first walked into the Guv was how ing packed it was. Incredible. I though I could get a spot to dance somewhere in front of the DJ booth, but as we made our way there, it became clear that that was gonna be impossible. I have never seent he Guv this packed ever. You couldn't move at all. Eventually we found a spot by the right side of the middle platform where there was enough space to go nuts to Coxy doing his thing. What an amaaaaaaaaaazing set. Pure Coxy-style Techno. He was ripping it up non-stop. There was a point I remember where he dropped like 4 or 5 absolutely incredible choons in a row. The way he just pumps up the crowd is one-of-a-kind. By 6am by legs were completely raped by him. This was yet another one of those times where your brain tells your limbs to move because of the pure awesomeness coming in through your ears, and your legs flat out refusing. , I hope I could have stayed longer to just listen to his set, but alas, the car needed to be returned home, so we went back to the Kool Haus to find the people I was driving back.

Just as we walk into KH, Ferry was dropping Rachael Starr. This track is dropped almost every time there's a Trance event, and I'm still love to dance my ass off to every second of it. Couldn't have picked a better track to end the night on.

SOUND: Is it just me, or was the sound setup everywhere absolutely superb? Not too loud, no distortions, just perfect.

CROWD: A lot better than the usual Guv crowd. Mainly because there was a lot less half-naked steroid monkeys (i only saw like 2), and less Asians than I'm usually used to. Best crowd of the night was definitely the Orange Room - just the right amount of people totally losing their minds to the music.

VS. LOL: Can't really compare the two. LOL was mainly a Trance night, and this was mainly a Techno night.

SHOUTOUTS: Janelle: wow girl, it seemed like you had more energy than I did this night - keep up the good work. Niveole: didn't see you pretty much the whole night, but I knew you were dancing you ass of somewhere there; couldn't find you to say goodbye when we were leaving either. Engine9 & Midnightclubber: I told you Breaks are the - guaranteed to destroy you in one hour flat. Beba: haha, pure luck that you found me, sorry we couldn't stay in KH longer, but it was coxy time; besides, you dissapeared from sight pretty quickly too. Met some other TAs - I remeber your faces, but not your names, lol - if you do remember meeting me tho, let me know :p.
The Highroller
That was the best techno party I've been to since Hawtin @ System Jan 2004. Cox absolutely killed the place. Waaaaaaaaay better than his Decadence set.

Memorable moments in Cox's set:

Nitzer Ebb - Fire Fire Fire (Chris Leibing Remix) (what was more entertaining than this song was watching Cox rock out to it)

Some really crunchy electro track I've heard Sasha play in his sets recently: has the lyrics "Are you some kind of freak?". Everytime this tune drops in a set, it makes everyone go wild. It always comes out of nowhere.

Another track I will probably never know the name of, but it had many builds and it after the build it would go back to a very minimal beat. Ryan, when this track dropped, you said "he's teasing us!". We neeeeed to find the name of this tune!

I heard the Guv was open until 11am! Can anyone confirm/deny this?

All and all, a very good night. Completely surpassed my expectations. I hope this party opened people's eyes to techno. It would be nice if we could have techno parties like that the Guv more often.

Tunes: Great. Uberzone and Timo Maas kicked ass, Ritchie got a little minimal but pretty much what I expected, and Carl Cox ripped us a new one.

Sound: Very good - for once, I didn't feel like I was going deaf. I'm glad that someone down there figured out that louder is not always better. Thank you!

Crowd: Not off the hook, but no complaints really. Guv was rammed by 3-4ish but the other rooms had plenty of dancing space. I did run into a few creeps - maybe it was just my bad luck though.

I think that's about all. It was nice to finally get some good techno in this city!

I came for Timo and Ferry, I saw Timo and Ferry, I danced my ass off to Timo and Ferry, I hurt my back and my feet to Timo and Ferry, I loved Timo and Ferry.

Last night was amazing, I was going nuts on the dance floor. There was actually a point in the night when my feet couln't take it anymore so I would sit down for 5-10mins then go nuts again for another 1/2hour. And I tell ya I'm feeling it now.

For me that was the best night of the year.

And for all those guys that take there shirts off, put them back on cuz I don't and I'm sure many other people don't want sweaty man chest hair all over me when you walk by.

Agreed with two sound comments. It wasn't too loud and no real distortion problems. Mind you, my ears are still ringing a bit but my fault for forgetting earplugs.
