its easy to lower a deficit that you create yourselves by moving some numbers around.
That liberal shell game has been scamming the public for years. Sadly it seems to work. |

There have been dramatic increases in the number of CT scans, cancer surgeries, cataract surgeries, cardiac procedures, hip and knee replacements and MRI scans since the liberal came into power. This has and will continue to produce shorter wait times for patients.
The Liberals are placing a major emphasis on protecting Ontarians health by investing in public health, combating smoking, requiring daily physical activity in our grade schools, introducing legislation to protect drinking water and replacing coal-fired electricity generation that contributes to smog.
The liberals are currently implementing its "Reaching Higher" plan for postsecondary education. They are investing $6.2 billion more in universities and colleges. This will also include funding for skills workshops and apprenticeship programs. |

because most of the centres that were being constructed under the tories were completed under the liberals. For example, the southlake regional centre's new wings opened last year.

very foolish considering we can barely meet our energy needs now.

meanwhile tuitions are about to rise. Yet another broken promise. You cant reach higher if you cant afford to go. |

What Jay said.
It's great that the Liberals are *claiming* that they are doing a marginally better job of spending MY money. However, what I would really like is to keep *MY* money and be able to spend it on what *I* choose, including education and health care.
As for energy, don't get me started on that because I work in the energy business. Private enterprise is doing all the real work - the Ontario Liberals have just been slowing things down and taking all the credit for other people's hard work. |

Wouldn't we all like to spend our money the way we want to.
We pay taxes at every level and without that tax money we will be doomed. If you think any government is actually going to give us money back your crazy....all governments will give money one place and take it back in another.
Being a home owner and having to pay property tax I can accept but then because I own a house I also have to pay education tax....I don't have any kids yet I still have to pay it.
We all need to accept the fact the over 50% of our pay is going to pay taxes in one way or another. |

Excuse me? Dude, lay off the crack! We survived once upon a time with NO income tax, what on earth makes you think that we'd die without it now? |

Where did I put that Crack Pipe:D
Once upon a time we didn't pay taxes....that being prior to 1917 when the Finance Minister, Sir Thomas White, first introduced Personal Income Tax. I think a lot has changed since 1917.
I hope you run for Prime Minister in my lifetime....you will have my vote if you can find a way for our society to run without taxes. :D |

Easy, teach people to save money instead of wasting it on SUVs and Big-Screen TVs.
But that doesn't help the economy now does it... |

It takes a lot more then that....how do you think all are roads get plowed every year...how do you think you are able to go to public school, how do you think any services done by the different levels of government get done....because we pay taxes. Sure you could try and privatise it all but then you will still be paying for these services. Remeber, the government can't just make money when it wants to.
Face it....we need certain taxes....I agree that there are taxes that need to be done away with aka GST.....however....a large amount of the taxes we pay need to be paid in order for our society to continue and for us to continue to enjoy the lifestyles we are acustom too. |

getting back to the topic of this thread....
I'm actually fan of John Tory but I think he's jumping the shark with this non-confidence motion. First of all, in order to succeed he would need to convince no less then half of the Liberal caucus to vote against the government..... that just won't happen. So, clearly this is just a stunt to spin that the Liberals are a bad government, which may or may not be true depending on ones view point. The problem is (and why I think this was a bad call) that we are far too far away from an election for this tactic to work to any meaningful advantage for the PC. People will forget about Sobora by the time an election is call.... or worse yet, he may be cleared by then. Either way, the attention this calls to the Liberal's lack luster record will be lost by the time the next writ is dropped. Subsequently, the only real effect this will have is to slow down the process of governance (be it ever so minimally). The danger is that perhaps people will start to think Mr. Tory is petty and overly eager as many have begun to think about Mr. Harper due to his actions last June. I hope I'm wrong on this because I think Tory will make an excellent premire. Eitherway, the non-confidence motion is meaningless, will fall, and ultimately will be forgotten. |
