Wouldn't we all like to spend our money the way we want to.

We pay taxes at every level and without that tax money we will be doomed. If you think any government is actually going to give us money back your crazy....all governments will give money one place and take it back in another.

im not against taxation. But there is no doubt that we pay way too many taxes for the level of service we receive. And there is no doubt that while the government is very good at delivering many services such as education, they are very poor at delivering services such as health care. No one is asking for zero taxes. What they are asking for is better use of tax money.

in my town they just built a brand new taj mahal of a library that no one uses. Before that they bult the brand new Taj Mahal of town halls that is probably 5 times bigger than necissary with bright lights blazing 24 hours a day.

Our taxes are some of the highest in the GTA. It's unacceptable what many governments do with tax money.

I dont accept this. I believe that if we cut waste, and sepnd our money more wisely we can lower taxes and RAISE services. One thing we need to start doing is paying off the debt. Thats our biggest single money waster right there. But debt paying is not very sexy to liberal voters who would rather have instant results.

At least the federal government is doing this. Personally, I think 100% of budget surpluses should go toward debt reduction rather then increased spending or tax relief. I'd rather we take it in the ass now and fix the system rather then pass it on to our children and grandchildren as a work in progress.

Heh. Lots of libertarian minded folks around.

And yet the liberal government has reduced the debt not just federally but provincially (Ontario) as well. This is being done....as Moral said...I would rather take it in the ars now, pay the tax dollars I am and reduce the debt. Once the debt is in order then we should expect and demand a decrease in our tax dollars.

And where do you think the money comes from to pay these private companies?

the feds arent really doing this. They are playing a shell game with the surplus They have been under reporting the surplus and then SURPRISE! guess what? we taxed you more than we thought!

100% of the surplus should go to paying the debt instead of using some of it to try and bribe us. If our debt is paid off and we have a surplus then id like to see that money back as they have done in alberta.

the provincial liberals have increased the debt every year. The deficit was 2 billion dollars when the liberals took office. The proceeded to raise it last year and now this year it is 1.5 billion.

Considering Sars and mad cow, it wasnt unreasonable for ontario to have had a $2 billion deficit in 2003. However the tax and spend liberals should not have a $1.5 billion deficit today after giving us the largest tax increase in ontario history.

Well that is where you are wrong. When the ontario liberals took over the debt was over 5 billion dollars and they have reduced it to under 3 billion. That being said...I did get the numbers from the liberal party and I am sure you will say it is all magical book keeping but lets remember...every party has magical books.
