I always check it before I order a vinyl. Helps me to be sure what I am ordering is in fact the record I want.

One of my most used databases. I recon the number of abundant posts in this forum would be reduced plenty if people would learn to use it :)

Discogs is one of my favorite sites on the internet by far. I've been a paying subscriber for 3 or 4 years now and am always learning something new from the website. It's by far and away blown eBay out of the water for me too with regards to purchasing/selling vinyl.

It would be nice if samples could be posted but that would be such a nightmare... permissions, quality, space, time, etc.

Mods are becoming a bit anal retentive at times but I suppose that is a good thing in the end as more detailed and accurate releases will occupy the database.

Love ya Discogs!

eh its a good site, not my favorite, and I have yet to use it to buy anything...i'll give it a try next time i guess, but not having samples is a big problem for me.

yep, in most cases, but the chat subforum has some good stuff, especially when adam x or frankie bones go bonkers!

I regularly post in the forums and sometimes update the database (mostly for corrections, none of which contribute to ranking, which doesn't concern me)... I also sell a lot of music through Discogs and no longer bother with eBay or other auction sites. I like Discogs quite a lot! Especially when I reflect on how scarce information was when I was getting into buying records in the first place...

I'm addicted to browsing it, but I'm not a member of it. Actually, I am a member, but I don't really use my account for anything.

Its useful at times, I see it for nothing more than that. No point putting your collection on there in my opinion. Waste of time.

i disagree. i like to know how many records i have and easily be able to update my collection and export it to excel... discogs lets me do that. a lot better to search and click "add to collection" than sit there and type that stuff into a document.

I can see why it can be useful but not to me personally. It'll get a lot easier by the time everyone converted their collection to digital. Your average media player will have it all there in a list as it is.

I gave up with submitting stuff to discogs when the mods started arguing about :o
