Wow... I had an amazing time last night! I was one of the first ones in thanks to standing in line since about 10:30 (argh :whip: ) so I was just chilling upstairs waiting for the place to get a bit more crowded. I don't know who the 1st DJ on the balcony was, but he was playing some housey tunes that I was diggin.

Then Lavelle comes on... I dunno I couldn't really get into his set too much. He played a few songs I really like (I seem to remember Holden's remix of Safari being one of them) but that with cutting out the sound for a few seconds at a time really killed the flow for me. The first few times he did it, I thought he blew a circuit breaker or something... I was like :conf:

After what felt like an ETERNITY Holden comes on and immediately assualts the club with dark, pounding basslines and guttural beats, and didn't let up the whole night. No breaks, no resting, just BOOM the entire time. Incredible. I was groovin'... just couldn't stop! I've definitely added him onto my list of favorite DJs. Damnit... I can't wait to see him again!

I didn't even bother with the AHP... I left after Holden's set. All night of Solarstone the previous evening plus 4 hrs of beach football the same day kinda killed me. But somehow when the music came on it was like all that went away. Amazing.

Great to see all the TAs out there too! :D

I spundae'd the whole night and we left around 3:30, hit up the del taco and crashed at my friends place.

You guys missed a CLASSIC awesome hard-trance\house set by Swedish Egil. Man, I remember listening to him in 1997. The CDJ's broke in the backroom so he was mixing on the decks all night. He played alot of old trance tunes that I really enjoyed.

glad I stuck around spundae cause i'm broke.

That was Justin & John Do!! I *heart* those dudes!! :gsmile:

I loved it when Justin played Robophobia. I haven't heard that song at a club since JZ played it @ MNS!!

oh yeah, let me mention.... Safari, on Avalon sound = un-ing-real!

Last night was insane. Now I know why you guys hyped up Holden so much in the previous weeks. He lived up to all of it and then some. I'm a believer now. :D

Matt Darey played a good finishing set. Lots of hard beats to follow Holden.

Last meal 31.5 hours ago + 8 hours of dancing = instant weight loss. :(

It was good seeing everyone last night!

Omg Holden rocked the place. I have never seen a dj work so hard, he was constantly doing something. His set was just incredible. Too bad he didnt get on til almost 230. I didnt get to the club til around 12 cause of my stoner friends were too blazed to drive so I had to sober up a little bit to drive and then I went the wrong way on the freeway so it took like an hour to get there. Anyways, I got in at around 1230 and I heard the first guy playing Robophobia and I was like hell yea. I tried to find some of you guys but I never could. Maybe next time.

Like everyone said, Lavelle was ed up and he trainwrecked alot. While he was playing though, I went up to the balcony to find my friends and they were standing right across from Holden!!! I was like holy thats him! I didnt have a camera on me but I did shake his hand and asked him what time he was to go on. Hes a pretty cool dude, just a scrawny, geeky kinda guy lol. I cant wait to see him again with just him as the headliner. I need like a 6 hour set from him. That would blow my mind  :eyes: :eyespop:

if im not mistaken, the moby track 2nd to last song in Lavelle's set was another vocal track layered over Moby - God Moving Over the Face of the Water, i remember the violins n pianos from that song quite well since I love the track ever since I watched the movie Heat w/ Pacino n De Niro, btw in the movie they have an even better version of the song then Moby originally composed, in my opinion. But yea, I dont agree w/ lotta ppl here in that Lavelle was pure ballsack sweat, like others said, sure he trainwrecked every now n then, but the tracks were slammin. Kinda funny when he turned the volume down during Killers' track expectin ppl to be singin lyrics and everyone was dead silent haha. The man got paid, had fun, and we paid him so more power to him.

all i have to say is that i saw tejpatel. this makes it twice in 2 months.

had a little sleep and wanted to say a few more things, agreed about the 2 guys that warmed the crowd up before levelle went on, very nice track selection, got everyone right in the mood and put smiles on people's faces since most everyone in the club was pissed about how long we had to stand in the rain before they let us in:whip: but within minutes of getting in that was long forgotten. a large group of ta's were in the middle center and dancing right when levelle and holden were doing the change over and i realized i didn't see tigo or clovis and i had to find them to experience this magic with them since they are one of the reasons i even knew about holden, so i make my way around the right side and down front where surprisingly there was ample room minus the washing machines going full force, insane. and of course there are tigo and clovis and the 3 of us are front and center and for the next 2 hours we went down an amazing journey with stunned looks on our faces at the insane talent that this mere boy has!!! thank you guys for rockin out with me up front. also thank you carrie for being an awsome partner in crime, man what a night! and to bob for hosting and eric and mike as well as bob for spinning, without you near:mad: and so my request never got fullfilled but alas thank you to phillipe, bob and eric for iding that second sun song the spell and burning it for me so i can repeatedly enjoy it!

as for trance that several people on this thread can't stand, i still love it, it's definitely different and there are 2 very different vibes that go along with it but man it still touches my soul on so many levels. i got to thinking, i got to enjoy a superb night of lots of different types of music for the low, low cost of $15, how unbelievably lucky are we here in southern california that we have the opportunities that we do, i saw 6 djs with varing styles that many different people could connect to, got to meet holden and matt darey, i am lucky to know mike lord who spun at spundae and then got to finish out my experience dancing to 3 gentlemen who love the music so much that they continued to spin for the after after hour power into sunday afternoon, i for one feel very lucky and honored to know so many of you TA's and to get to be exposed to so many different djs styles! Prog and house is right there with my love of trance and holden ing solidified the insanity that was last night for me!

Ditto.

'm a lot more into weird sound effects, deep/guttural lows, and ethereal highs.
